Open Records are proud to present our long awaited third CD compilation Expansion Pack, compiled by label boss and pioneering force in the Australian underground dance music culture, Ian Woodman.

Anyone who knows the man himself, knows that Woodsman doesn’t do anything in halves. So when it came to the task of putting together his own compilation at the start of the year, one disc alone was never going to cut it.

After months in the lab, he is finally ready to give us Expansion Pack, a 2-disc collection of deep, intelligent, genre-mashing dance music, held together with Ian’s distinctly staunch, epic sound that has earned him the title of one of Australia’s favourite open-air DJs.

From international heavyweights like Matador, Erphun, Boris Brejcha, Pow-Low, Fiord, SQL, NDSA, Weekend Heroes, Perfect Stranger, Astronivo, Sheff, MUTe, Grouch and A. Balter, through to home grown Aussie favourites like SunControlSpecies, Sensient, One Tasty Morsel, Waltone, Blinky, Def Digital and Algenon, the music of Expansion Pack sits at the point where techno, progressive and minimal meet and is proof that quantity and quality can co-exist without compromise.

South African living in the UK for now. I like to play music that make people move and evokes happiness. Lately I have been missing the sounds from home and on a mission to explore the best that South Africa has to offer.

Open Records is a techno, house and electronica imprint based out of the sunny state of Queensland, Australia. Founded in the lush tropical paradise of Cairns in 2007 and now managed out of the bustling metropolis of Brisbane, Open has grown into a respected and prolific label with more than 70 releases from artists in all corners of the globe.

The Open sound is just that. Over the years we have released everything from deep, organic, progressive and tech house, to staunch minimal, hypnotic tribal, driving techno and abstract electronica. What has remained constant is our desire to represent the intelligent, groovy, dancefloor-oriented sound of the Australian festival and party culture, with a little help from our friends around the world, too.

Along the way we've managed to top the Beatport charts, featured in the playlists of some of the world's biggest DJs and radio shows and helped launch the career of some of Australia's most talented artists.
