The automatic quality of Gatsby’s answer set us all back at least another minute. I had them both on their feet with the desperate suggestion that they help me make tea in the kitchen when the demoniac Finn brought it in on a tray. Amid the welcome confusion of cups and cakes a certain physical decency established itself. Gatsby got himself into a shadow and while Daisy and I talked looked conscientiously from one to the other of us with tense unhappy eyes. However, as calmness wasn’t an end in itself I made an excuse at the first possible moment and got to my feet. ‘Where are you going?’ demanded Gatsby in immediate alarm. ‘I’ll be back.’ ‘I’ve got to speak to you about something before you go.’ He followed me wildly into the kitchen, closed the door and whispered: ‘Oh, God!’ in a miserable way. ‘What’s the matter?’ ‘This is a terrible mistake,’ he said, shaking his head from side to side, ‘a terrible, terrible mistake.’ ‘You’re just embarrassed, that’s all,’ and luckily I added: ‘Daisy’s embarrassed too.’

The quest for identity represented through psychedelic narrative. Concrescent conjure this story with the hand of comrade Vis Vires, telling of the battle to understand one’s self, mankind and one’s belonging amongst mankind. The complex layering provokes enthralling emotions and imagery of journey and destruction. Energetic movement smothered by darkened tones, contrasted by colourful jaunts of hope.

The battle advances to Eeemus’s tenacious gate, where Dylan Carroll guides the march through the night, to a dreamy twilight haze on the back of a Ketapillar, forged by heavy Biomass and the great Vis Vires.

"One of the original Bassic Records artists, a true staple of the label, Käse Kochen has been a core part of the family since our very first compilation. After two impressive EPs subsequent to our inception, Käse Kochen has spent the better part of two years developing the body of work that he has aptly dubbed ‘Encounters In Melancholy’.

Apart of the psychedelic and bass music scenes for many years, the derived ethos, aura and creativity aided the formation of this current output of intricate, colourful, hefty progressive techno that knows no boundaries.

Whilst ‘Encounters In Melancholy’ is endlessly emotional, it continuously steers down a darker path, reaching depths and heights of near cataclysmic intensity.

Open Records is a techno, house and electronica imprint based out of the sunny state of Queensland, Australia. Founded in the lush tropical paradise of Cairns in 2007 and now managed out of the bustling metropolis of Brisbane, Open has grown into a respected and prolific label with more than 70 releases from artists in all corners of the globe.

The Open sound is just that. Over the years we have released everything from deep, organic, progressive and tech house, to staunch minimal, hypnotic tribal, driving techno and abstract electronica. What has remained constant is our desire to represent the intelligent, groovy, dancefloor-oriented sound of the Australian festival and party culture, with a little help from our friends around the world, too.
