Reflections on this Mov. No. IV - "Felicidad"

In my opinion, while complex and wonderful, life is an extraordinarily rare gift that has been granted to us. Perhaps we do not pay enough attention to it, but among the infinite number of possibilities we had of never having existed, all living beings have had the incredible luck of being blessed with life. It is a lottery in which we had a single number among the immensity of infinity and we won!!

Some argue that nature is cruel and they may be right, but we have been given the gift of intelligence and although nature has its rules, intelligent beings have the power to change that and let other forms of life take control of them. continue without interfering with it. Thus, respect for the lives of all the beings who accompany us on this journey must be inviolable.

All of the above is a prelude to my objective about this movement entitled “Felicidad" (Happiness), which can also be extrapolated to other musical aspects and also to other situations in many other areas.

Everything in life is perfectly structured and everything makes sense in a universe that is governed by physical laws that are inviolable. Therefore, I believe that beauty would not be so exquisite if ugliness did not also exist; The same thing happens with painting, where in a palette of cold colors, a brushstroke of a highly warm and striking color is appreciated; Therefore, I think that good taste must always remain above and in balance against the vulgar, but the latter must never disappear if we want to appreciate the former.

According to the above, as far as this work is concerned, I have tried to apply the same philosophy in that in my opinion beauty is enhanced if the positive is combined to a fair degree with the negative, that is, the consonance with the dissonance, although in music both things are very subjective, since dissonance is also beautiful if it is well crafted.

Finally, I must say that I am satisfied with the result of this Symphony No. 4, since it responds to my initial approach of combining melodic parts with simple chords with other more complex harmonies that are not always well understood by non-specialized listeners, but that in Its whole responds perfectly to the consonance-dissonance binomial.
