The Peruvian-raised and Berlin-grown artist, Sofia Kourtesis, puts her kiddy cats away for the hour to discuss her drive behind the cause, her musical upbringings, and the prospective threads she seeks. The refreshing Sofia Kourtesis has been a hurricane on the radar and has failed to disappoint with her newfangled EP, the rejuvenating and liberating Fresia Magdalena. The exceptional quality of the EP parallels her production possibilities and heightens her buzz. Delightfully cinematic and sunny, Fresia Magdalena EP is named after Kourtesis' mother, Fresia, and is dedicated to her activism work in their hometown Magdalena, Lima. The lovely Kourtesis embodies herself as an true empath; her grit for activism runs deep in her familial roots and personal experiences. Because despite pandemic headlines, plaguing issues perpetuate. Kourtesis' presence on the album is even more magnetizing, as enchanting synths wines and dines her (debut) velvety voice. The sample powerhouse pairs her lo-fi cuts with crisp rings and bell tones to compose a dancey blissful transaction. She also shares her multidisciplinary skillset in the hour and how her diverse expertise allows her to wholly steer her artistic vision. To ensure her concept is authentically executed from top to bottom, she holds visual and auditorial jurisdiction in all creative projects. This is Kourtesis’ final word about the album as she transitions into her next life chapter, moving away from Fresia Magdalena’s limelight and into the studio in the coming months to work on her next album.

Echoteca - Francesca Lombardo | 012: Echoes of Parallel Lives

We're excited to bring you a new edition of the Lossless Mix series. 
Episode 4 is contributed by our good Dutch friend and compagnon @nunodossantos who took a warm, housey musical direction drawing a exceptionally colourful mix the @sohaso labelboss quotes like this: "...with all the uncertainty it felt good to look back and go for some proper house vibes"....and strolling along to the sounds and grooves of this mix, we can only agree with that.

Based long-term in Utrecht, Nuno Dos Santos is best known in the Dutch scene for his DJ residencies at the late, much-loved club Trouw (and its predecessor, Club 11), and for his label Something Happening Somewhere (SoHaSo), which he started in 2013. The label has a strong independent musical voice, with a strong hallmark on quality control, and releases only a few carefully handpicked records each year. Dos Santos also collaborates with Cosmic Force under the alias @ultrastation
Whether it’s running his own label, producing music or DJing, you can feel that Nuno is utterly in love with what he does. This mix for us is another great proof. Thanks Nuno for taking us on a fantastic journey!

Our next guest features a unique talent from Prague, Roman Rai.

Biography

“No Borders Please. In Fact They Really Do Not Exist”.

This statement proves to be true for Roman Hořínek, better known under his dj/producer alias Roman Rai.

Roman’s musical path began at a turn of the century in Prague a cultural gem of Europe.

Having an ear for music and attention to small details, Roman has earned himself a name of an experienced and knowledgeable music producer and sound engineer.

Throughout the years, his creativity and energy would turn into musical ideas and compositions, which would captivate and mesmerize listeners.

Whether it is a work in a studio or behind the decks – Roman Rai does not confine to current trends in the industry. Nevertheless, he continues to constantly search for that spark that can turn any track (or a DJ set) into real emotion and energy-fuelled story.

This search eventually led Roman to establish a record label “Moving Pictures” together with his friend Täino in 2018. Shortly after, he released his second studio album “Middle of Nowhere” on the same label.

Since then Roman has been focusing on growing and shaping the sound of the label, as well as multiple personal collaboration projects.

In the past 20 years, Roman has left a meaningful trace on the local scene, as well as beyond it.

And there are still more stories to tell and borders to erase.

Criss-crossing the globe as a DJ and live performer, she's played monumental shows including IMS Dalt Villa, Burning Man, Tomorrowland, Get Lost, Resistance, Circoloco as well as The Royal Albert Hall. In tandem, Francesca has built up a formidable back-catalogue of music on esteemed labels: Crosstown Rebels, Mobilee, Leftroom, Poker Flat, Bedrock, and her own Echoe and Echolette imprints amongst others.

Francesca recently launched her ‘Life of Releaf’ campaign, which seeks to motivate the music industry into supporting global reforestation. Francesca Lombardo’s work isn’t just art alone, but a powerful statement to the world.
