Timnah Sommerfeld’s signature approach to earthy dance music has been tried, tested and approved by swinging hips all over Europe. Developing her style from age 17 onwards, when she started playing in squats and industrial spaces around Basel, she’s continuously making her mark with warm, reverberating techno cuts from across the spectrum. During her residencies at Hinterhof Bar and nowadays, Elysia, Sommerfeldt’s sets fluently cover (and transcend) shades of electro, techno and house music, establishing her as a firm favorite amongst dancers and peers. Smooth mixing skills, strong emotional narratives and an intuitive understanding of dancefloor dynamics continue to define her style, seamlessly cruising through the small hours of the night.

Just in time for the onset of winter, Dan Thorman’s mix is here to keep us cosy. A soft blanket of healing sounds in muted tones and gentle textures, Dan’s mix is a beautiful story which provides a quiet comfort: an insulated cocoon of warmth to retreat into.

Dan is someone who gives some of the best hugs going, and always smells amazing too. He’s a kind and sensitive soul, with an easy laugh and excellent taste in music. He has a real gift for making everyone around him feel brighter and happier, and his mix is no exception. A perfect soundtrack for curling up on the sofa with a steaming cup of tea, and a good book 🕯️🧡

The mix builds up from subtle drifting mists, into glistening tones and resonant chords. Evolving at an unhurried pace, and in a delicate manner, as one track morphs into the next, washes of sound dissipate into the fuzzy notes of an organ, or the muted hoots of an owl 🦉🍃

Rich in acoustic instrumentation and sounds from the natural world, it brings to mind looking through a fogged window at trees being buffeted by strong winds, or the last light of sunset seeping away behind a hill. The mix draws to a close with a cerebral drone, slowly waking us from a mesmerised trance, and leaving us feeling both rejuvenated and restful. Hearing him in person for the first time, I was struck not only by his command of the room but moreover by his effortless weaving of fresh and mind-bending sounds in a whimsical and completely intuitive way. Some time about a year ago, we invited our dear and close friend Olf van Elden aka Interstellar Funk to his second time playing the always mighty red fish dancefloor at Rio Hostels in Buritaca – and what a psychedelic and percussive ride Olf gave us!

Aiming not to let the energy dip, I took over for closing duties after a brief but fun back to back together – our first ever!
