Raised in the heart of the Balearic homeland, Dj Aficionado cruises in at the right moment with an appropriately sun kissed selection. Currently based in Berlin, he has found a cosy corner on Refuge Worldwide where he regularly rides the waves with his show Francachela. Pathing his way through the nightlife, he pushes big-room Balearic sounds around town with Orbita, a freshly minted party he runs alongside Llupe. Recorded in a free flowing manner this offering includes Downtempo, Street Soul, Italo and more to wash down an afternoon Cava and bring in that sunset you’ve been waiting for.

What up IC cru! Been a minute - how you been? We took a little break to let that last mix marinate but we’re back with another for your discerning pleasure. This time around we’re excited to showcase a real UK OG who has been active in various guises over the years, flying the Balearic flag as a DJ, producer and connoisseur of fine choons in The Main Stem circa 2010 and lately with Midlands trio Wrekin Havoc, whose edits and original productions - both of which blur the lines of what is what - have been on rotation in my bag since they first stepped on the scene a few years ago. It’s Rob.J! Robert to his mum, when not up into the wee hours pushing rare track rips to his friends via online chat like some kind of strange drug dealer with incredible taste, has been hard at work with his WH mates Stu & Rich, working on new music seemingly nonstop and blowing minds at last year’s Rotation festival in the English countryside. 

Rob is truly taking us on a Balearic journey with heaps of impossibly rare tunes that sound like they were beamed from the White Island telepathically, mixed by the seat of his pants over a whopping 150 minute mix! Obscure 80s pop gems meeting late-decade dance music head-on, 90s breakbeats, Italo cheese, Spanish vocals dancing with guitar licks - one could be forgiven to think this was recorded poolside at Ku in ‘88!

OpenLab Live From Pikes 19/04/25 [with Johnny Rock]

Eddie C is a Canadian DJ, producer, and vinyl enthusiast known for his warm, groove-driven blend of disco, house, funk, and balearic sounds. Originally from Southern Ontario, Eddie’s musical journey began in the late ‘80s, influenced by hip-hop and the early acid house scene. He started by making tape edits of late-night radio shows and immersing himself in warehouse parties.

His diverse taste and deep record knowledge were honed through years of university radio and 1990s raves, eventually leading him to craft eclectic, soulful DJ sets that span boogie, slo-mo disco, and deep house.

In 2010, Eddie founded Red Motorbike, a vinyl-only label that’s become a cult favorite for its dusty, analog-inspired cuts. His productions and edits have appeared on respected labels like Razor-N-Tape, Endless Flight, and Crue-L Records.

Now based in Vancouver Island - after leaving Berlin in 2020 and being a nomad for three years - he continues to tour internationally, thanks to his soulful, genre-blending sets and unwavering dedication to underground music culture.

Oh! We almost forget to tell you he recently launched his brand-new label, Disko Universal, debuting with an EP in collaboration with Keitano Sano. Don’t miss it!
