Hell Yeah's lovingly curated Buena Onda series is back with a new edition that focuses on Adriatic Beats & Beyond. It has been assembled by label head Marco Gallerani and features four exclusive new tunes that reflect his summer residences at a cosy beach bar on Italy's Eastern and Adriatic coast.

Marco moved back to his hometown of Ferrara after the pandemic and began spending more time at the local seaside, the famous Lidi Ferraresi. It's there, at Lido di Spina, that a friend runs Kai Beach Bar, a small spot where, every Thursday throughout August for the last three years, he has soundtracked afternoons and sunsets under the Buena Onda banner, more than a decade after the party first started in Berlin.

"The beat has become less Balearic, more Adriatic," he explains of the sounds that can be heard up and down the coastline. "There’s no sunset culture yet, but they like a groove for aperitivo. This selection reflects the music I propose there, a kinda sunrise to sunset trip."

The 13-track selection includes four exclusives: the first is Blende's 'Amor,' which is forthcoming on the label. Johan Blende is a Swedish producer, songwriter and DJ who weaves together modern dance with retro sounds of the 70s and 80s and debuts on the label this summer with his Recess EP. 'Amor' is a bubbly groove with a New Age wash and lo-fi pads full of charm.

Hell Yeah regular and Italian magic man Walter Del Vecchio aka Quiroga also offers a new Baia Club Ambient Version of 'French Kiss' which has a lazy acid line worming its way through dubby kicks and tabla drums, and his dreamy electro soother 'Cala Ventosa' also features. Secret Soul Society, aka South Wales's Cal Gibson, also tests a new EP with his 'Orange Surprise' blending off-balance rhythmic shuffles with starry cosmic melodies. The final exclusive is from Balearic Gabba Sound System, who flip The Vendetta Suite aka the legendary Gary Irwin's 'Della Notte' into a quietly epic cinematic closer with icy analogue beats and a warped bassline for dubbed out late night escape. His 'Island Hill Microdot' also offers some warped cosmic ambient house introspection.

Elsewhere, Michele Mininni features twice - once with Gallo's Tropical Hinterhof Remix of the suspensory ambient lushness pop 'Carousel of Tears' and once with the original percussive pressure and hip-house fusion of 'Urban Voodoo' from his Pop Archetypes LP. Buena Onda veteran Feel Fly comes through with an Estatico Danzante Remix of Pedro Bertho's 'Tornei' feat Mariana Gehring and takes us to the stars on twinkling keys, dusty breakbeats and steamy vocals that glow as warm as a setting sun.

Add in further groovy gems such as Bonnie and Klein's synth and vibes laced 'Horizon Avenue,' dreamy, breaks-driven downtempo brilliance from pub wave innovator Dawn Again, hints of Ibiza cool from Willie Graff's remix of Aura Safari & Jimi Tenor and some upbeat synth-laced house from label stalwart Luminodisco and you have a faultless collection of grooves for grown up dance floors.

Birds Of Rhythm like to fly south for the winter. They love digging for records on distant shores and in bustling cities far and wide. Since forming Lips & Rhythm Records in 2014, both Soleil Kellar and Jesse Sizmo have spent much time building a family of wildly talented artists at home in San Francisco and overseas on tour. The label releases warm grooves in vinyl, digital and cassette format and jokingly has a 'safari tours' department. Birds Of Rhythm hone in on the likes of jazz drum breaks to disco, house and the occasional rare groove 45 when they're in the booth. In this week’s instance of OL Selectors they bring us a mix full of cool warm balearic tunes.

'Music They Love'... we ask DJ's and producers to delve into their collection and put together a selection of records that have meant a lot to them in the past, as well as the present. All things inspirational and influential - the records which have shaped their sound as a producer or selection as a DJ.

We're joined by DJ, producer, presenter and journalist Scarlett O'Malley who's put together a beautiful mix which she says is "literally the soundtrack to my life". One hour of pure Northern Soul goodness; each track arousing a different memory for Scarlett "These 60 minutes of 45s are very much songs I have danced to until I have sweated out and lost my breath to at the 100 Club, songs I have cried my heart out to, and for all the emotional attachment is very much the music I love."

Jakobin is the solo project of DJ and producer Georg Nadler. Growing up in the 90s in rural upper Austria, Georg spent his time skateboarding and listening to lots of hip hop before witnessing the halcyon days of the Vienna downbeat era and later being introduced to Austrias club culture. Pursuing his growing passion for collecting vinyl, Georg started spinning his first records in the notorious „Kijani“ in Linz. There he invited Djs like the Vienna Scientists or the one and only Mr. Slack Hippy. After moving to Vienna, Georg had a two year residency alongside future label mate Simon Lebon in the Donau Techno, Vienna’s first adress for Techno music back then. While his gigs at the „Donau Techno“ helped him explore the deeper shades of techno, acid and electro, he also began spinning disco and house records with his long time friend Dominik Huber. Quickly getting immersed in Viennas electronic music scene, the duo started producing and DJing under the Moniker Jakobin & Domino and became founding members of Luv Shack Records in 2011. After a number of successful releases on Luv Shack and several EPs for the legendary Chicago label Large Records, Jakobin & Domino became a staple in the Viennese house scene and played several gigs in Berlin, Paris or Geneva. Recently he also teamed up with his other longtime friend and Artist Peletronic, releasing EPs on Fortunea Records and Hungarian Hot Wax under the Jakobin & Peletronic moniker. Jakobins sound is a testament to years of open minded record collecting, encompassing influences from downbeat, hip hop, techno, disco, house, funk, afro and jazz. His growing collection of analog gear also helped shape his productions as of late, and so it comes as no surprise that his first solo track was picked up by the highly acclaimed Futureboogie recordings in 2020.

Anthony Henderson, known professionally as Tony H is a Panamanian tech house, deep house, techno and minimal producer and DJ. Throughout his career he has had the opportunity to open for the likes of DJ Eva, Trevor Vichas, Hector Moralez, Astronomar, DJ BL3ND, Kristian Nairn aka DJ Hodor, Dean MAson, Donald Glaude, Jason Curtis, The Crystal Method, Paul Oakenfold among others. In 2015, Tony H founded his own label, Late Night Munchies, which has already released dozens of original tracks and remixes by contributors all over the globe. The brand’s shows, which feature new music combined with Tony H’s live performance skills and engaging personality, have translated a strong following of supporters.

Originally born in Korea then settling down in the US, 3kelves explores the feeling of nightlife and afterhours all around San Francisco. Influenced by Denis Sulta, Krystal Klear, DJ Koze, Leon Vynehall, Lone, Roy of the Ravers, and Matthew Dear, his first two EPs delves into different styles of house music from dark undertone of yougon to disco-fueled house of gogogogogo to acid-influenced of some sort to Drum and Bass overdrive DrumBassPeral. It has something for all electronic music lovers. 3kelves can also be found spinning disco and house music all around San Francisco clubs to cliffs to cozy cabins.
