Over the last decade, Garo has been a key albeit discreet architect of Bulgaria’s electronic scene. While his role as curator of Sofia’s infamous Studio EW could have him pinned-down as a “behind-the-scene” type of guy, make no mistake; this bonafide digger knows how to burn down a dancefloor – and has done so loads of times, from Berlin’s Griessmuehle and Wilde Renate to the stages of Bulgaria’s Meadows In The Mountains and Wake Up Stran-Jah festivals. 
Favoring acid-tingled, electro, and leftfield cuts when he’s in the booth, Garo takes us on the alternate route for this slow-paced and psychedelic mix, a testament to the countless hours spent browsing record crates and building up his outrageously eclectic vinyl collection. 

Expect everything from Brazilian industrial music to Cuban jazz and 
kraut-like synths for this trip that’s best taken lying down on a carpet.

upsammy’s bumper mix for Bleep is as playful and adventurous as her studio productions. The rhythms of this ninety-minute set vary, particularly in the first half. One minute upsammy is running the kind of bright, glistening IDM that was heard on her recent Zoom LP, the next a downtempo break or dembow has shaken things up still further. No matter what speed the tracks are a charmingly excitable air runs through everything here, one that’s not dissimilar to the aesthetic of D. Tiffany or Reptant. Things heat up in the second half, with proceedings almost verging on junglism at points, before an increased number of half-time tunes bring the mix in for a smooth landing.

"I wanted the mix to be an homage to all the types of music that inspire me at the moment, steering away from the mix becoming about one particular genre, but more focussing on elements I appreciate in music like rhythms that tickle my ears or intricate and quirky melodies. Music that’s light and bassy at the same time and also has a dynamic element to it. The beginning is a bit more trippy and delicate, continuing to a more fast clubby sound and then it kind of zones out into a deep but bright part.”

MARICAS was born in January 2018 due to several discussions about the lack of a night-out in Barcelona that combined electronic music and the queer scene. If we look back on history, the techno rave community started with the help of the LGBTQ+ misfits of the 80s. Both communities have very similar values, freedom, youth and underground culture. Our home is Barcelona, but we aim to take MARICAS all over the globe, and have already had nights in Stockholm, Ibiza, Paris, Valencia and participated in Whole Festival. In 2020 MARICAS Records was founded, a genre music fluid label, and the first release was non other than by resident and maricas mother ISAbella.
