CURSES (DISCHI AUTUNNO/ OMBRA INTL )

Berlin-based Curses blends New Wave and Post-Punk with his ghostly vocals and guitars, punctuated with flashes of 80's EBM and New Beat. Whether it's performing live at the late Andrew Weatherall's Convenanza Festival, or DJng in the main room at Circoloco DC-10, Curses manages to somehow bring his punk and new wave attitude to all dance floors small and big. Always keeping true to his unique take on the darker side of disco. The debut album from Curses, 'Romantic Fiction' dropped on Jennifer Cardini's Dischi Autunno imprint in October 2018, launching his live act which brings the guitars, vocals and live energy of the album to stage as a duo.
Curses has released a handful of EP's on labels such as Hoga Nord, Bordello A Parigi, Throne Of Blood, and his own imprint, Ombra International. A new album is scheduled for 2021 on Dischi Autunno, as well as curating a 3 Disc Compilation with Eskimo Recordings (Next Wave Acid Punx), showcasing the key musical influences that define the Curses sound.

Our next podcast takes us for the very first time to the Belarussian capital to meet Valeria Buturlya. An artist who started in the music universe at an early age through choreographing, and after 15 years of stage dancing, she broke into the electronic music scene playing breakbeat and electro under the name of Tendresse Rage (@tendresserage). That background has a noteworthy impact on her conceptualization of music being her mixes remarkably kinetic, physical, and overall ideal for the dancefloor. This N2MU 45th podcast is an electro journey that offers a variety of approaches to the genre, from more delicate perspectives and melodic passages to a far more robotic view full of vocoders elegantly progressing to a  much darker and powerful spectrum. Our summer ends right now. With small delay we are pushing top gear and starting new podcasts season with one of the most interesting djs in this underground planet. Here is a short description about Golden Pudel resident dj Phuong-Dan, other our top writing will be  online as soon as our writer will back to this crazy deep web world. 

Phuong-dan is a renowned dj based in Hamburg, Germany. For over a decade now he is both resident and host at legendary St. Pauli underground venue golden pudel club. Since seven years he runs the club-night Gatto Musculoso, with guests like italian pioneer Beppe Loda, Veronica Vasicka of the Minimal Wave label, Daniel Wang, Vladimir Ivkovic, Tolouse Low Trax, Hunee, Anika, Lovefingers, Traxx, Alexis Le-Tan, Vidal Benjamin, Sean Canty or Ron Morelli. These list is far from complete but does describe the personal taste of Phuong-Dan and so the musical range of his dj sets. He is spinning an unique eclectic mix from contemporary underground techno, minimal synth, post-punk, new pop and ebm, the electronic side of krautrock, and rare disco, to flashy left field experimental stuff – he couldn't care less for narrow minded ones who restrict themself to a certain genre or a specific decade, he is exploring the whole world of music on search for the groove of the night. Naturally, it should be on vinyl. Phuong-Dan is a regularly guest at Düsseldorf's Salon des Amateurs, he played noted clubs like Robert Johnson in offenbach, le Sucre in Lyon, Studio 80 in Amsterdam, le Batofar in Paris or 20/44 in Belgrade; but also in art spaces like C/O Berlin, Haus Der Kunst Munich, Kunsthalle Vienna, or at events like international short film festival Oberhausen, foreign affairs festival Berlin, european media art festival Osnabrück, mimi festival Marseille, or überjazz in Hamburg. He had supporting slots at concerts of artists like Asmus Tietchens, Dieter Moebius (of cluster fame), Burnt Friedman & Jaki Liebezeit, Kreidler, Felix Kubin, Gigi Masin, Steve Summers, Das Ding, Aksak Maboul & Veronique Vincent and many more. 

Since January 2015 Berlin community radio streams the opening hours of his gatto musculoso – when he shares the decks with his guest playing each other new discoveries or old faves, loosely dedicated to the more nonfunctional side of music.

You should always expect the unexpected with Berlin-based producer and DJ Benedikt Frey. His sets are tension-inducing while his productions tend to have this cinematic feel to them, something he's honed even more in his most recent project Keys, alongside Chris Cox. 

These hypnotic creations have seen him make homes on countless labels since his first release almost a decade ago. From Live At Robert Johnson to Bahnsteig 23, Serious Trouble and his own Love Pain Sunshine & Rain imprint, he's wielded his own unique, intriguing sound. Soon he wil make his return to ESP Institute, the label he released his debut album 'Artificial' with, as well as Talabot's Hivern Discs, which follows his Out Of Here EP for the imprint in 2016. 

He's in charge of today's Ransom Note mix and fuses together sludgy electronics, 90s acid, trance and breakbeat to keep you locked in and locked on all the way to the end...
