Hailing from Puglia in Southern Italy, Silvia Kastel’s musical background began in experimental voice and electronics while studying sound engineering and electronic music in New York. She started performing live in 2008 with a main focus on experimental electronic music and extended vocal techniques. Evolving into DJing while based in Berlin between 2014 and 2018, first on radio and then in clubs, and now based in London with a monthly residency on NTS, her range has expanded to combine this history of sonic exploration of the outer edges with a sensual club music that simultaneously provokes the bodily push and pull of dancefloor tension and feverish release.

Being a huge fan of Exist Dance pretty much since its inception in 1991, I was lucky enough to receive a promotional parcel from them in 2001 with around 20 records in it and promptly set about doing a mix with some of their (at that time) later, less familiar tracks.

All vinyl of course.

The mix was put onto a CD with jewel case featuring some artwork by my daughter, Kiera Griffiths, aged 10 at the time, and text and layout by Nick Gollock.

Un projet de teuf bien zinzin et itinérant à la programmation glissante. 306 Club, c'est aussi son émission sur Lyl Radio à la programmation tout aussi dérapante (et fortement conseillée). Côté écoutilles, Lil'Ronin, c'est de la lenteur psychédélique à tous les étages, et si ça trébuche sur les styles, c'est toujours en slowmotion avec le temps de prendre la vague suivante. Du très bon délire en somme, et un chic type qu'on accueille pour la première fois cette année.
