Sagt Hallo zu Josy aka @itsadisasta_artist, stolze Besitzerin eines von Batteriesäure zerfressenen Chicco 69749 Space Recorders, der die Stimme so verändern kann, dass man klingt wie ein Alien, sowie Teil des Anfang 2020 gegründeten intersektionalen feministischen Netzwerkes fem*vak! 

Beim fem*vak-Gründungstreffen habe ich Josy zum ersten Mal erlebt, als sie viele Ideen wild auf ein Flipchartpapier aufgeschrieben hat. Dabei haben ihre Augen voller Tatendrang gefunkelt. Das klingt wie so eine Phrase, aber es war wirklich so. Josy fiel mir sofort auf, sie ist eine Macherin. 
Vor allem machte sie Visuelles in der Szene, tut dies immer noch sehr gern und fand so dann zum Auflegen durch ihren „artsy stuff“, wie sie sagt. „Zu diesem Podcast habe ich z.B. auch ein Video gestaltet. Das könnt ihr euch ab dem 21.05. beim vak Kulturspaziergang „Formwandler:in Wellen“ reinziehen. Geht `ne Runde spazieren und checkt das mal aus, ist `ne gute Sache für die Leipziger (Sub-)Kultur, Kunst- und Clubszene.“

Sehr einprägsame Momente, die sich Josy bewahrt, sind übrigens solche, wo sie durch Zufall auf einen ganz besonderen Track stößt und vor Freude einfach anfängt zu rennen oder zu tanzen oder rückwärtszugehen oder ihr ein lautes „KRANK“ rausrutscht. „Egal ob im Wald oder mitten auf der Straße. Das sind dann meistens die Tracks, die man 100x nacheinander in Dauerschleife hört.“

Die Social Media Präsenz von fem*vak ging übrigens diesen Monat online (https://www.instagram.com/fem_vak) und es soll auch eine eigene Podcast Reihe auf den vak Soundcloud Channel geben (https://soundcloud.com/vak-leipzig) berichtet sie in unserem Interview.
„Es soll dort keinerlei Begrenzungen hinsichtlich Genres, Länge, Form oder was auch immer geben. Jede FLINTA (Frauen, Lesben, inter, nonbinary, trans und a gender Personen) kann diese Plattform als Sprachrohr nutzen. Wenn sie etwas zu sagen hat oder eine Story erzählen möchte, kann sie das dort tun. Wenn sie eigens produzierte Tracks vorstellen will, kann sie das dort tun. Wenn sie etwas vorsingen will, kann sie das dort tun. Wenn sie ein geiles Set rauszuhauen will, kann sie das dort tun. Es kann politisch werden, muss aber gar nichts. Uns ist wichtig, dass die Personen sich komplett frei und kreativ ausleben können.“
A pros pros Ausleben: Wenn Josy etwas an der Szene verändern könnte, wäre es z.B dass „Leute Brüste oder Oberkörper im allgemeinem genauso anschauen könnten, als ob es ein kleiner Finger wäre. Ich liebe es, draußen oder im Club halb nackt rumzurennen. Ich fühl mich damit einfach sehr wohl – bis es irgendein ekliger Dude verdirbt, indem er meint, mal angrabschen zu müssen. Hab schon Leute ins Bein gebissen deswegen.“
Weiterhin führt sie aus: „Es muss sich überhaupt hinsichtlich der Intersektionalität* noch einiges tun. Die Leute versuchen es und das ist auch gut so, nur blicken sie´s noch nicht so richtig. Ich blick ja auch nicht immer durch und muss jeden Tag dazu lernen, weil ich ein rotzfreches Maul hab und auch echt gern ne Rotzgöre bin. Doch oft muss man immer noch die normalsten Umgangsweisen erklären und das ist frustrierend. Vor allem wenn du vor vermeintlich erwachsenen Leuten sitzt. Fehler machen ist sowas von OK - Aber manchmal bin ich echt hart verdutzt, wie man so manchen Scheiss noch bringen kann.
Ich würde mir wünschen, dass jede Person ihre Privilegien hinterfragt: Ich bin ne weiße Frau und hab dadurch manche Vorteile, die ich mit anderen teilen kann oder für gute Zwecke einsetzen sollte. Isso.“

Mit ihrem Podcast will sie einen lebensbejahenden sorglosen Sound kreieren, zu welchem sie gerne auf einem Openair tanzen würde. 
So sorglos wie das Leben vielleicht manchmal sein könnte, wenn man sich nicht so ernst nehmen würde.
„dieses Konkurenz-Bubble-Getue. Man kann so viel mehr erreichen, wenn man zusammen arbeitet anstatt gegeneinander.“

World of anonymous projects received Macaulay in 2013, a new producer in the electronic scene that doesn't respond to any real proper name. Part of the new record label called Exxxtra Picante, founded by La Royale (on his side projects) and Macaulay in early 2014, this national talent has work with the new and mysterious alter egos of other established artists. Behind the anonymous image ilustrated by the iconic Culkin, Macaulay's musical production floods with techno the network and joins to the streak of good trends made in Mexico.

In this fourth release of Melomana Macaulay presents three tracks, one with Mijo (alter ego of La Royale) that perfectly defines the sound of the artist. Enjoy it!!!

“React” is Split Secs’ first record of 2015 and the year’s first release from the LA duo’s Machine Limited imprint. Composed of Alexandre Mouracade a.k.a SONNS and Travis Kirschbaum (TK DISKO), Split Secs has put out material on labels such as Throne Of Blood, Kompakt, and Jolly Jams. They’ve also crafted remixes for Mark E's Merc label, BPitch Control, Remain, Waze & Odyssey, Future Classic, Pacific Horizons, Clouded Vision, On The Prowl.. etc.

“React” further confirms Split Secs’ capabilities in creating all things tough & funky. As usual, Alex and Travis walk a fine line towards the light, but veer dangerously and deliciously into thee dark. The original mix of “React” is deep house in the classic sense of the genre; a pulsing bassline, which Marshall Jefferson would be proud of, conspires with rolling drums, drifting atmospherics, a chant repeatedly intoning “react” and an ominous, but extremely sexy, spoken, Italian vocal courtesy of Alona — the sometime chanteuse for 40 Thieves, who carried out vocal duties on Machine Limited’s first release, “Slave,” also by Split Secs.

The package comes with three remixes, two by Indonesian producer Jonathan Kusuma, whose “Gong 3000” EP appeared on Cosmo Vitelli’s I’m A Cliché label in 2014, and the other by Hardway Bros, aka Sean Johnston, Weatherall’s co-pilot in A Love From Outer Space. Kusuma’s first mix is a driving house track with a definite late ‘80s warehouse feel that brings early Tommy Musto to mind. The bassline is chunky and surrounded by intricate and highly danceable drum patterns that wheel and swerve under the vocals. The track builds aggressively with haunting strings and syndrum hits. It’s perfect for peak time play. His second offering is a looser, deeper and more narcotic effort. It’s no less driving than his first mix, but strays into darker territory with an acid-tinged bassline, rolling toms, plenty of delay on the chant, stabs of electric keys and fantastic drum programming.

The Hardway Bros’ mix rounds out this release perfectly by toughening the original bass line even further, making the beat stomp hard and then throwing in some acid to create a swirling cauldron of phantasmagorical, phuturisic, phunk phantasticness. You’ve been given phair warning my phriends, “React” will garner what it asks for, a rousing reaction on the dance floors to which it is applied.

From France comes Fabrizio Rat with a 4-track EP constructed entirely from acoustic piano and drum machine. Mr. Rat's unique sound design blew our ears away, particularly at a time when so much techno is more reliant on following a blueprint rather than trying to push the frontiers of what is possible, which to us was always the true raison d'être of techno.

Here's a little more info about Fabrizio - 

I'm a Pianist, composer and producer crossing musical genres, from techno to contemporary music, improvised music to electronica. I developed a personal sonic world on the acoustic piano transforming it into a synthesizer and a groove machine with DIY techniques and objects.

Pianist of Cabaret Contemporain (electro-bio) and Magnetic Ensemble playing festivals and venues throughout France and Europe, Canada and USA.

Other projects are La Machina (solo, with a prepared piano and a drum machine), Jukebox, Barber Mouse and Luna Maze. The first album of The Explosion, a new ambient trio with Gilb’R and Giani Caserotto, will be released on Versatile Records autumn 2015.

James Sigha resurrects his Faugust alias for ‘Parallel Rave Fantasies’, released this Friday 21st June. To celebrate the release we asked James to submit a mix for Bleep.

The Faugust project is Sigha’s place to experiment with his formative influences, leaning heavily on his early experiences with electronic music and placing them within the context of his contemporary production and sound design work.

His mix follows suit and traverses plenty of abstract techno, deconstructed pop and rhythmically complex paths. Something to get lost in.
