Détends-Toi is the debut EP of the Parisian-born, Berlin-based singer & DJ Stella Zekri. 
Produced and co-written by Ed Longo, Détends-Toi is a sunny collection of four original songs, one dub version and one special cover, heavily influenced by Zouk, Boogie and the sound of the mid-80s French underground. Coming to you in advance of summer ‘22 the record marks also the first release of Berlin label Cosmic Romance.

decades and DJing for the best part of two, in 2020 he stormed the edit world as his kaleidoscopic palette were heard for the first time through productions on globally-renowned, prominent labels, including Brooklyn-basedlabel Razor-N-Tape.

The platform stretched far into the distance, the concrete only partially lit by the dim glow of the lamps. A handful of people dotted along its expanse, all waiting patiently for the train to arrive. Just a few minutes before midnight the chugging engine could be heard nearing the station; at exactly midnight it pulled in. In 70 years it had never been late. The passengers climbed aboard in silence, and with a blow of the whistle they sailed off into the darkness.

Orange Tree Edits are known purveyors of quality reworks. Since their beginnings five years ago, founder Jimmy Rouge and a stellar cast of fellow edit masters, including Jonny Rock, Moving Still, Hysteric and Good Block, have breathed new life into old finds and forgotten gems. Musically it ranges, but generally it's made with either the intent of getting your feet moving or soundtracking time spent lounging at home. There's Afro, disco, Balearic, new wave and synth-pop, which are some of the sonics that head honcho Jimmy gets stuck into on his return to the label after three years.

Macadam Mambo launches another special LP to end the 2022 season, presenting the debut album of this Belgo-Italian aural freak show called « Sexo Y Fantasia ». A delicious record full of sun by aspect, dreamy, dubby and balearic in the tone, flavored and contrasted with little bits of darkness and tension in the background. As the name suggests it, the sexiness is in every note, the erotic male voice is floating all over it, surfing on waves of endless reverb and delay. Throughout being anchored with clear hints from the 80ties and 90ties, this 35 minutes oeuvre still keeps full modernity in its form. DJ-friendly, it’s also an excellent overall listening experience to enjoy from beginning to end while sipping a fancy cocktail somewhere out in a cosmic dreamland.
Don’t miss this joint, it might be one of the highlights of the year.

Hoshina Anniversary is from Hachioji, westside of Tokyo. His new LP of fluid, experimental dance music draws upon his influences of jazz fusion, electronica, and Japanese heritage. 'Electro punk disco', what's not to like about that? This is the name that London duo Baba Ali coined to describe their electrifying sound which takes a little bit of all the things we love here at Ransom Note and stirs them up in a big old pot.

Comprised of American musician Baba Doherty and British guitarist Nik Balchin, the group blend elements of punk funk and electro with NYC disco and no wave, that's equal parts for the dance floor and for the stage, which they're no stranger to.

They've been touring up and down the country since their debut LP dropped in 2021 and they're showing no signs of stopping anytime soon. With the release of their sophomore album imminent - a debut on Memphis Industries called 'Laugh Like A Bomb' which has been on repeat on 6Music - they join The Go! Team on tour around the UK as of this weekend. But before that they'll be making a pitstop at our own R$N residency at The Social on 10th March for an intimate live set...

Ahead of the gig, we asked Baba to give us a flavour of all his influences, which he does in fine fashion with this mix of groovy, crunchy funk, punk, synth pop, new wave and electro... Perfect fodder for your thirsty Thursday.

A renowned producer, visual artist and performer, Strapontin is not a man afraid of trying new things. Signed to the labels Optimo, Hard Fist, I’m A Cliché, Invisible Inc. or La Belle Records, the belgian artist has crafted his own musical style, located somewhere in an unknown land between post punk, tribal downtempo and dark disco. With heavy, sensual beats, other-worldly vocals and cavernous basslines, his view of music is adventurous and mindful with a taste of queerness. You probably have caught him lately remixing Karpov Not Kasparov, Vox Low or brilliantly editing bombs for I’m a Cliché. He’s also part of Poetic Punkers collective as a soundtrack composer and performer, a different point of view that has strongly influenced his singular and uncompromising music for years.

Born out of a shared obsession for crate digging, collecting, and the playing of weird and wonderful music, their releases so far have manifested in a highly-sought series of psychedelic disco 12”s. 

OMDD presents their first ever digital release fusing the sounds of early 1980s Downtown New York with 21st Century beats and massive Dub DNA injections. 

They say: "No longer in our Belfast studio, wedged between the everyday mundane. We are in the ‘down town’ New York bar that lives inside our mind. Gathered with people of the night, getting drunk and getting high, anything feels possible, yet all in good time. 

Drums roll, the bartender cranks the volume up, as the sax begins to play. Time pointing towards morning, yet people want to stay. 

Faces change as wonder sets, as to where their night has gone. Yet we play anything we want because it’s almost dawn. Introducing familiar sounds that mutate into something new. As always, Sherwood never far from thought, some pressure, just for you!"
