Stagnat is an electronic audio-visual project formed by two Slovenian artists based in Vienna. Emerging from a shared desire to merge musical and visual expression, their work channels a raw, experimental energy. Their sound oscillates between dark techno textures and the unpredictable noise of the everyday: the rumble of a passing train, the dissonant chatter of birds, the pale light of a gray morning filled with restless nostalgia.

Since their debut as an improvised live act at Festival Izvir in 2019, Stagnat have evolved toward a more cohesive yet instinctive performance style, developing a distinct sonic identity. Their creative journey has unfolded through a series of self-releases and collaborations, from their first EP Synchrony of Falling to their debut album and film on Singularity Recordings, and later through their own label, DE/FRAGMENT (@defragment-sound). Across these releases, they have refined a sound that blurs the lines between structure and spontaneity.

In this episode, we dive into Synthetic Oases. A hypnotic exploration of the fragile sanctuaries and structures we create to feel secure. These digital mirages promise connection while quietly distorting the world around us. As the first notes unfold, the illusion fractures, exposing the quiet truth that everything is transient. From there, the set emerges as a meditation on tension and release, defiance and surrender. Both harsh and tender, Synthetic Oases moves like a pulse between chaos and calm, guiding us toward the haunting beauty that lingers at the brink of collapse.

YUKIMASA began his music career in the late 1990s in Anaheim, California, and then
returned to Japan in the early 2000s, immersing himself in the electronic music scene. Over
the past few decades, he has continued his activities in various places worldwide.

Transcending genre boundaries and continuously expanding his style and artistic vision
shaped by encounters with a diverse array of artists. In 2007, he launched his own recurring
party, “FORCE,” which continues to be held at WOMB Tokyo.

In 2019, he established Paradigma Records and has continued to release tracks from labels
that represent scenes from various countries. His wide-ranging musical exploration,
unconstrained by genre, and his collaborations with diverse artists have created the
uniqueness of his DJ style, which has been highly acclaimed at world-renowned clubs such
as Tresor, OHM, and Gare.

@neural-scape – Self Hypnose

Neural Scape's new EP constructs an inner space where the rhythm advances in an altered, lucid, and slightly citrusy way; nothing is flat, everything has an edge. Almost mystical textures intersect with micro-details that act as small triggers for the nervous system, keeping the listener at a point of comfortable tension.

“Self Hypnotic” is, at its core, an experiment in deep control: it relinquishes command of the body to the pulse and lets the mind settle into its own loop. Neural Scape proposes an acid, hypnotic groove, a deliberate trance in which the listener consciously decides to stop making decisions for a few minutes.

Hard to believe it took Safe Space 3 years to release its first Dub Techno VA, but here we are!
Labelboss Ackermann starts things off with a kick heavy homage to dub originators like Scientist, King Tubby, Lee Perry and Prince Jammy, followed by label mainstay Black Mirror Park, who perfectly displays why his trademark chord workouts equally function on the floor and at home. Bondarük from Argentina pours a few bpm more into the fire and gets the girls dancing around it where brasilian Gabriel Marandola picks them up to take them to Detroit. Tino Trøster used to live there but now went full flexed german funkster with his track. Speaking of funk Ivan Emmanuel turned in one of the funkiest dub techno layouts we heard in a long time at the Safe Space bunker and next Stuttgarts best female producer TOX!KA lifts us back on the classic dub techno vibe with a light but anthemic summer outfit before Man With No Shadow pulls us down to the ground with his dry, heavy and monolithic slow burner of a tune.
