Jin Synth is a Taiwanese sound designer, producer, and DJ whose name has been a long-time fixture in the London scene. Her artistic delivery is characterised by ambience, experimentation, and a never-settling nature.

This four-track project on Italian label KR3 marks five years around the sun for the label and showcases the distinct yet complementary visions of Jin and Marco Maldarella, and mastered by Peter Van Hoesen. A recipe for success? We think so. "From many strange places and by many strange roads" is the label's message to us on Bandcamp, and this EP ‘The Neural Abyss’ facilitates a new place to explore.

When first attempting to describe this track, I immediately felt it was a calling - a cry for communion, a summons to meet, a pull towards something unfamiliar, somewhere to unravel and understand more, perhaps from within a snowy mountain range? I hadn't yet noticed the title, but it makes complete sense that the track is called "Signal." A signal and a calling are fundamentally similar: a message, which is precisely what this music is.

The sounds funnel us through the deep, spiralling crevices and dark corners of the mountain. The echoes are hypnotic, fuelling this journey. What Jin achieves here is the expression of a route of thought of her own, providing many paths for the listener to interpret as their own and it’s available to pre-order on vinyl and digital now and will be released on Friday 24th October on Bandcamp.

PREMIERE: Jin Synth - Signal [KR3 Records]

For our second release , we are presenting Inxhale by Ajdos.

A current of breath becomes sound: Inxhale, a 7-part journey unfolding at the threshold between stillness and unrest. Each piece begins with a single impulse , the act of exhalation, a release of the inner noise that lingers beneath the surface.

The album hovers across shifting terrains ambient techno, IDM, experimental deep techno, with glimmers of electro, its textures moving from warmth to abrasion, from fluid repetition to fractured silence. Nothing here seeks to comfort. Instead, it carves out a space where chaos and calm can drift together, unresolved yet in balance.

Inxhale is less an album than a state: a companion for those willing to listen inward, where release and dissonance meet, and the noise we carry finally finds its way out.

A new full moon rises in the sky, and this time it marks 5 years since we have been sharing music each new rising. Our episode number 63 is indeed a birthday celebration for 5 years of sharing mixes. 

For this one we went to our true original passion. Yes, we love all sounds psychedelic and deep. We have explored ambient, downtempo, dub, breaks and half time... but techno is where we come originally from, and that 4 to the floor will always be our first love. This mix is a selection of modern psychedelic techno, exploring it's different flavours. For moments more stripped back, for moments more melodic or trancey, and at times loopey and repetitive. Always mind altering sounds anchored by that steady 4x4 we love.

𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒆𝒓𝒆: Okgwa - Sikdang (Space Drum Meditation Remix) [PLN02]

Following the acclaimed self-released “Hwan Se 환세”, Korean composer Okgwa comes back on Polën with her most dense work yet : Hayan Kkot.

Drawing from the Korean spiritual concept of Han (a blend of deep grief and resentment, but not without hope), Okgwa weaves a subtle web that stretches across space and seasons, reflecting on death, life and on the fragile boundaries between humans, consistently shaping her unique sound through an intense ten-track album that follows directly on from her first album.

In Korea, the year is traditionally divided into 24 solar terms (절기), subtle seasonal points based on the movements of the sun and moon that guide farming and life rhythms.
In Okgwa’s previous album, the last track was Equinox (추분 or 춘분). The following solar term after the equinox is Hanro (Cold Dew): the moment when autumn deepens, the air turns sharp and clear, and cold dew gathers on the grass.

This new album, organized in three acts, closes with the track Hanro, which is also its release day: October 8th. A time when the earth itself exudes that cool, luminous breath.

The Space Drum Meditation remix enriches Okgwa’s sonic voyage, offering a striking and singular reinterpretation of the track Sikdang.

Bologna-based Marco Maldarella's contribution "Sulcus" is the focus of today's premiere. Where previous releases highlight lush, atmospheric techno infused with acid flourishes, "Sulcus" expands on the sounds Maldarella explored on their 2024 release with Dutch imprint Omen Wapta, 'Clinamen'.
