Through woozy bass lines and acidic leads comes our premiere for today. Hailing from Taiwan as a force de majeure, Vice City and her earworm-like melodies take center stage. All with an air of restraint, as if every element knows its place, and not to stray too far into the limelight. Contributing to those moments, only when it’s right, building and building, adding element after element until a crescendo comes.

Altered habitat and the rest of the 十​十​零​壹 compilation will be out on Jin, October 10th. Accompanied by stellar offerings from Initials B.B, and Ocram Orchestra to say the least.

@aleksandrl : I tried to revive my childhood memories and made the mix as a Twin Peaks (and again) episode. The main themes are on the intro and outro. Inside there are some scary tunes but also some funny, shiny tunes. There’s something a bit mystical. Rhythm is also there. A few yells from kids and some spoken word. I was trying to leave it somewhat chaotic and give more freedom to the listeners. Like Lynch was doing in every episode of his show.

Pipiltzintzintli EP is designed as a concept-opus around the notion of psychedelia in electronic music. It is conceived exclusively using sounds from hardware synthesizers and modular systems.

The repetitive motifs are chosen here for their organic and cerebral aspect; they act physically on the listener, the intention being to seek out sounds that act like active principles, like psychotrops. The idea is also to maintain a rather minimalist approach, with reduced use of percussive and/or melodic elements. Multilayering is used here to access a deeper sonic dimension, to tap into the inner self, a mental image like an imaginary, unconscious landscape. 
There's also an acidic dimension to the album, with references to a whole section of the history of repetitive electronic music: Warp's pre-2000s period with LFO and the distinctive sound of early Plastikman are particularly present here. The opus is rounded off by the unique touch of producer friends Gëinst, Inerit and Accou, who all revisit a track of their choice in their own way.
