My closing set for Melbourne's Sound System Culture event Forward Ever - played on Solidarity Sound System.

FORWARD EVER / APRIL 2024

Something I have been working on for a few months now. A 30 minute mix comprised entirely of beats I have written and layered with some classic acapellas. Just good fun vibes.

It was an honour to play this incredible party at Melbourne Pavillion for Melburners! Regional burn parties are some of my favourite because they bring a huge variety of experiences, art and sound to a beautiful audience of likeminded souls. This night was no exception, bringing an amazing group of beautiful people together to celebrate creativity, culture and collaboration.

This set is the final I will be releasing of several sets in the last few months and one which is shorter, more condensed and orientated towards a broader crowd. It's lighter than recent sets, with more of a nod towards positivity, fun, friendliness, emotion, hope and celebrating the power of a good dance together. It's a journey I was proud to bring to the main room of Melbourne Pavillion and share with the beautiful dancers in the crowd.

After this I'll be taking a much needed break to do some travelling and release the remixes for The Midnight Sun over the next few months - then ill be starting sets back up at later half of the year and working on new originals. A huge thankyou for being a part of my recent journey over the last few months, it's been a soul enriching time and im so grateful for your time in taking that journey with me too.

DJing is one of those things in my life where I find myself comparing myself to others, and often feeling like I fall short. It’s easy to get lost in comparisons and caught up in opinions. Then bom bom (bom bom dillim)… a series of beautiful people remind me that my light shines bright, and they celebrate when it burns instead of trying to extinguish it. Thank you so much for everyone that has supported and believed in me, you have no idea what a difference you make. Thank you for showing up, dancing, expressing gratitude, providing connections, and being present. Thank you to everyone who put my name out there this year and all of the beautiful folks that booked me for their events.  I love you! 

And an honourable shoutout and thank doodle for friends and muses like my dear Johnny Irwin (Civilian) who throughout my career and our friendship has constantly reminded me of my worth and that there is inherent value in being a SELEKTAH! Johnny, you are honestly so important to so many people and we are all so lucky to know you my dude! MY DUDE! Thanks to Kato (my roots) for your guidance and support when I was a fledgling, thanks to Nolan for the hours we’ve spent together digging for and playing tunes, and having the best times (and the most stressful times) throwing events and parties, thanks to Huw for always having my back and letting me make noise any time of day in his living room, and feeding me, and giving me hugs. DJing is a pretty multifaceted activity, and when it comes down to it, I do it as a form of expression, and to play music that I want to share with others, turbo bonus if people dance! Authorities are currently investigating a high-profile incident on Friday night at the Wind Down's Lodge Stage! Eyewitness reports scenes of frenetic dancing where the illegally cute suspect Lady Spark lit up the dance floor with incendiary house heaters, snuck in bootleg UKG grooves without a permit & escalated to full-blown DnB-driven mayhem without warning. Genre hopping with zero regard for BPM laws & at least 3 drop-related injuries were reported (all self-inflicted due to excessive skanking). Lady Spark remains at large & is armed with a USB & a dangerously fast blend game with no plan to stop. Approach only with gun fingers & dancing shoes!
