“The Pied Piper” alludes to the medieval legend of the Rat-Catcher of Hamelin, the song talks about the complex interplay of power, control, and helplessness in modern society, drawing inspiration from the narrative style of the 1934 poem, “All of us or none” (Keiner oder alle), by the German political playwright, Bertolt Brecht.

// The Album
'Trust No Leaders' is a record that weaves a voyage through heavy metal history — from its roots in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal up until present day, fusing heavy metal with their signature ‘poetry performance’. Set against orchestral and cinematic soundscapes, the record also pays tribute to non-Western musical traditions, including Native American and South American folk music, Vedic chants, and Indo-Persian classical music. The lyrics bring together elements from modern theater, classical Persian poetry, to Jungian Psychology and theology. 

Commenting on the motivation behind Trust No Leaders, 
TCOMAS: "Our inspiration extends beyond musical genres and the confines of discipline.The confluence of influences in our album extend throughout time and across cultures. In retrospect, this really captures our ethos: Look back into the past for insight, and look into the future with foresight. And in doing so, we created something new of our own."

Landing about 15 months after their debut album Full Spectrum, the duo’s sophomore LP expresses a more aggressive side to the band and was recorded last summer at TCOMAS’ studio in Camden Town, London.   

Discussing the new album’s motivation, TCOMAS:
"The current crisis and the events of our time have made it necessary for us to analyse, investigate, and expose the issues in urgent need of systemic change by looking inwards into the human condition. We want the album to be a beacon of hope, for making a future that prioritises people and the environment."

They Won't Believe You

“Ego mortuus sum” (“I am dead”) marks a violent turning point on the album — a cry from the edge featuring the fierce vocal presence of Fredrik Keith Croona (Against I). Musically, it’s a collision of extremes: progressive structures twist through shifting time signatures before collapsing into relentless staccato grooves, while old-school death metal riffing forms the scorched earth on which the vocals roar.

The song was born in a moment of spiritual rupture — a place where faith felt hollow and rituals failed to heal. Lying on the metaphorical altar brought not peace, but anguish. The lyrics rage against sacred comfort, throwing brutal imagery into the light: Heaven reimagined as a “cesspool of saints”, sanctity as emptiness. It’s raw, it’s defiant — the sound of someone shouting into the void.

Yet amid the fury, a thread of hope weaves through. The chorus draws from Psalm 29: “Domine, clamavi ad te et sanasti me” — “O Lord, I have cried to thee, and thou hast healed me.” Even at the height of spiritual collapse, the possibility of redemption remains — battered but not erased.

The first vocal track of Mъdrъ / Mudru draft album.  A mix of playing an instrumental before writing the lyrics (which is a departure although has been done a little recently), and also later my older style of writing chord-per-syllable to already-written lyrics toward the end of the piece.

Overall I write pretty naive lyrical pieces.  This guy is kind of a paranoid douche but with the best intentions.  She's like absconding off to (heaven forfend) a different little splinter group than his thing but it turns out to be benign and he inflicts some minor annoying damage by sneaking into their outing.

Lyrics:

Somewhere in the past someone set us up the bomb
Culture shifted so fast that 30 Rock is now a right wing sitcom

Somewhere in Ulster's bowels
Were heard the pangs of an alarm
A girl's heterofatalism was giving her an ulcer
The ginger with a minge
Had had enough of Hinge
Since the latest respondent's saccharine charm 
Was rather laid on with a trowel
The states seemed the right place to flee
And that's how she hooked up with me

How have I hated instruction, 
And my heart despised reproof 
It was the nagging ineluctable
Erosion of fitness under our roof
And what came of it was standing aloof
As i witnessed its destruction

After being the fall guy i was focusing on
Survival in the strange waters that i was swimming
Much like tall guys have no idea 
That they are at war with short guys
Normal women have no idea they are at war with crazy women

I saw our coming doom 
Through the bloodshot glass 
At the bottom of a marinara jar
The girls had started having breadsticks parties
And a lot of gossip got said
And pretty soon our burgeoning movement
Was given up for dead
But one can take theorizing too far
Particularly if you're too well-read

And so at the risk of assaulting my intestines
I engaged in a clandestine infiltration
And the leader of her congregation
Served a sumptuously appetizing oration
On the fiscal dangers of being an oversnacker
At the end of the presentation
One presumptuously testy cracker
Pointed out that one of the high watermarks 
Of our civilization
Is the Domino's pizza tracker

You can imagine their reaction
When I said the most frugal drug
Was constant distraction
In sunshine or rain
It lessens the pain
Of trudging dissatisfaction

We got to a really dark place
And the tipping point began
Around when i was being really crass
And implied that the high priestess was an also-ran
She was really about to kick my ass
I think it was the rage of Caliban
Not seeing her own face in a glass

After several mint juleps
She went and staggered amongst the tulips
