InPlainSight - Radio Mix Series Dj BlackGold

Absolutely awesome mix from Hélder Russo, a Lisbon-based producer and DJ well-known for his love of soul, jazz, hip-hop, funk, disco and Detroit house and techno.
Both the soundtrack of his upbringing (Portuguese speaking African authors of the highest caliber such as Orlando Pantera, Ferro Gaita and Cesária Évora) and his 90’s hip-hop and house music influences played a major role in musical growth.

His work as a producer comes as a result of all the above: an interesting blend of genres and styles, with black music as a common ground. From jazz and hip-hop, through to soul, funk, electro and new wave from the 80 ́s, all merging into the unique Detroit sound.

From his first productions – for Lisbon-based labels such as Groovement and Tomorrow Is Now Kid! – up until his work at Percebes (his current label), Hélder has developed his own signature sound – with tracks that convey a sense of sincerity without falling into the repeated formulas of the past.
His career as a DJ is equally consistent and captivating, subtly inspired by some of his reference artists such as Theo Parrish, Louie Vega, Carl Craig, among others.

I have the pleasure to present you Housework, a well respected and talented artist, Dj, producer to come out of the Chicago underground scene in the recent years both behind the decks and in the studio.
Housework has released several tracks on a wide array of record labels, inspired by the Original House Sound of Chicago and psychedelic World Music. An avid Vinyl collector an DJ, He launched P'òe Records a Vinyl Only label in 2021 aiming to bridge the gap existing today between different electronic music genres and only focusing on quality sounds and original productions.

 Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Godi Osegueda started as a DJ in the 90’s when his interest in musical instruments was extended to mixing and producing. In the early 00’s he began his first regular residence at Club 00, along his partner and record digger Clark Nelson (Chicago).
Right after that he joined LickSamba Crew, a musical- artistic branch between Rio de Janeiro – Austin that reaches its peak along the Ritual party editions. By the 2005 Godi evolved as a DJ/producer, graduating as a studio technician and electronic music producer in the schools Microfusa and Sae Institute, both in Barcelona, which in the future have reflected on his accurate mixing techniques.Still in his past movements, along with the carioca scene Godi joined the Disconnection Crew with regular presentations in ClubHouse Rio with memorable editions besides Joi Cardwell, Cordell Johnson (Excursions, Chicago) and Jojo Flores (GotSoul, Montreal). Each step of his career was essential so he could absorb the sensibility that is essential to communicate with different parties and generations, offering what is new and trendy in his sets as well as in Bones Records collection.

About him :
A music producer and DJ since his teens, Ka§par is as much an artist as he is an experienced technician. His work masters the various languages found within the shared universe between urban and electronic music. As an author, he signed several albums of originals, dozens of records and hundreds of tracks of different genres and types - although he is often associated with the “house / techno” sound and the Detroit school, his music is permeated with London influences of broken beats and breaks, bass music, jazz and dub.
He is also a professor of music production, sound engineer and the founder, manager and curator of his own revered record label Percebes Música.

Former co-host of 'Le Family Show' and host of ‘Nation To Nation’ on Radio Meuh, former resident DJ at Brixton Jamm in London, Larry's also a figure in the thriving Lisbon underground scene: close to the ELA movement, member of the Percebes Música label, co-parenting the collective / record label Ruínas, and resident DJ of the Whoopee parties. His commitment to night life culture led him to join 'Ritmo Fulcral', one of the same booking agencies as Kerri Chandler, Satoshi Tomiie or the duo Kyodai, among other artists. His new •LiVE performance is dynamic and energising, melding Deep House, Soulful Techno, a rich groove with Jazz and Funk elements. The response from both fellow artists and the enthusiastic crowds has been nothing short of euphoric, translating into an atmosphere of pure ecstasy. Behind the decks, Larry Quest pays tribute to the roots of House & Techno, while sprinkling in his own contemporary UK-inspired twist. With a mix of Jazz tones and rhythms, his sets are an invitation to let loose and dance like nobody's watching. The music producer made his way into record shops worldwide for the first time in 2019 with his first physical 12’’ record 'Conun Drums', a grooving Hypno House EP released on British producer Jimpster's imprint [Delusions Of Grandeur]. I had the honour of meeting the ever so talented Jacob aka Kid Sublime , here is a mix he curated for us, its a true gem enjoy lovelies!

More about him : 
Born in a Dutch family of artists and musicians, playing piano and drums since 5 years old while listening to his grandfathers Duke Ellington records trying to replay "C-Jam Blues" it was only natural for Jacob to give his life and heart to music at an early age. 
From drumming in Hardcore Punk bands to touring the world with Brazillian band Zuco 103 and working in recordstore Fat Beats he quikly laid down a strong and solid foundation to build his career as a producing musician and Disc Jockey.

After trying out an Akai MPC 60 in the late 90's, Kid Sublime got hooked to the machine and a few years later he released his first House 12", "Tea For Two" which got re-edited by Francois K. !
Teaming up with Dj Aardvarck and Steven De Peven (now Awanto3) he started the Rednose Distrikt collective. 
After releasing many singles on Rushhour and an album on Kindred Spirits, it was time for Kid to start a solo career.
In 2003 Kid kicked it of with his Deephouse 12'' series „Basement Works” on Rushhour and soul album "Basement Soul” on Kindred Spirits which featured artists like Lady Alma, Nicky Guiland from Heavy, Jneiro Jarrel and local soul singers U-Gene and Yinka.
After a 3 year hiatus it was time to drop his first Hip Hop album in 2008: ”Rappin' Blak” on Dopeness Galore.
 The album featured Hip-Hop heavy weights: Frank N Dank, Illa J, Camp Lo and Defari.

Kid's recent House and Techno output on Dopeness Galore and Faces/MCDE records are received very well in the deejay and club community.

 Getting spins from Laurent Garnier, Carl Craig, Recloose, Rich Medina, Ben Sims, Anton Pieete, Steve Rachmad, Ryan Elliot and then some, Kid's infectious, funky and soulful House sounds are sure shot records amongst deejays, clubbers and dancers across the globe.

Last year Kid dropped his second Hip Hop album: "Hot Water Music” on the Japanese Teppen Records Inc. label. A collection of tracks he recorded over the last few years with super emcee’s: Declaime, Tableek (of Maspyke), Georgia-Anne Muldrow, CeeMajor and Japanese rising stars Buzz and Wise Sensei. 

Next to playing gigs overseas and full time studio work Kid has started his own club night: LIVE AT THE BALLROOM and his bi-weekly radio show BALLROOM RADIO.
Both ventures found a home in Amsterdam's finest underground House and Techno club Studio 80. 
Playing 70's Disco classics, US Garage, Detroit Techno and exclusive new productions Kid Sublime's deejay sets are a true dancing experience.
