Review
Veak is being given the remix treatment of his Kingston Town EP by a whole load of legends, including Bungle, AK12000, Vital Elements and RMS. The result is varied, moody release that touches beautifully upon all the elements of urban-edged dance music, including naughty rollers, stuttering jungle tracks and everything in between. Bungle's remix of 'Blazing' very much falls into the latter category, with a rigid but solid break that underpins the wispy sense of ambience provided by the constant pads looming over the arrangement. The others are equally sick - check em out.

A charity fundraising album project curated by Foreign Concept & the team at Critical, featuring tracks donated by Mefjus, Emperor, Foreign Concept, Kasra, Krakota, Enei, Eastcolors, Hyroglifics and Halogenix.

In Christmas of 2013 Foreign Concept, Stray and Xtrah got their heads  together and decided that rather than let some sought after unreleased music sit idle on their hard drives they would put it to use and offer people the chance to download the tracks whilst raising money for charity. 
This year Foreign Concept has gone one step further and we at Critical have all gone through the vaults and put an album together, again for a good cause. This time we have chosen Oxfam. Oxfam is a vibrant global movement of dedicated people fighting poverty. From saving lives and developing projects that put poor people in charge of their lives and livelihoods, to campaigning for change that lasts.


All monies go directly to the charity.

This was my first ever official album mix which I did with best mate DJ Lime. I remember recording this like it was yesterday, and to let you in to a little secret, it was tough scratching that fast.......it took quite a few takes. The mix was recorded in the same studio that we made DJ's Take Control.

I've been asked how we recorded this: It was mixed on a set of 1210s and a mixer on to tape and then we edited it together after. There was no sequencer, sampler or software involved. Just decks, tape and a couple of outboard effects...

Vital Elements has been on one of late and has literally been churning out hit after hit. If you follow his movements across various labels and platforms you will already know this guy really does have the Midas touch. Going straight in with a double A sided weapon..
‘Mushroom X’ is a growling beast of a tune, full of psychedelic twists and trippy basslines that would make even the most straight-laced junglist attempt some form of a shuffle skank. Chuck in a lovely old school breakbeat, B movie vocals and Vital Elements is no doubt onto a winner here. Just try and avoid those dusty old jars in your neighbours garden shed before listening.
Sinkhole forming ‘Transmission’ is literally ready to peel your skin off with its low end bass and swallowing soundscapes. This one blends darkside, menacing vibes with rolling beats and the odd atmospheric vocal sample. Ideally suited for the 4am shift to pull the ravers out of whatever hole they fell in or just to heighten the vibes. Either way, you’re sorted.
