Mc Skibadee is without doubt the best Mcee Drum & Bass/Jungle has ever produced since its start. From his early beginnings, Skibadee landed a slot on Kool Fm 94.5 Fm (1995) alongside Dj Wildchild. His talent from day one started getting him booked on all the hottest promotions at that time (One Nation, Hysteria, Telepathy, Pure X, Roast). During his journey Skibadee was the most imitated & influential MC to ever touch the mic within the whole of this dance music scene. His slogan “Deal with the matter” was iconic to the up and coming youth whom also wanted to mc. Achieving multiple awards along the way with his lyrical abilities & the building of lifetime bonds with a few of his peers (mainly Det, Shabba D & Funsta). Which become legendary fusions within the world of Drum & Bass. Amazing selection from DJ Wildchild along with Skibba’s Iconic MC style. Unfortunately we lost Skibba recently and this early recording is a great example of why he went on to have an incredible career as an MC and influence many that came after.

It’s also worth pointing out that at the time Wild Child was the only female DJ on Kool FM and in general Pirate Radio was indeed mainly men. It is what it is and it’s important to understand this and to see how different and more diverse things are today.

Kool FM is London’s longest running Jungle Drum and Bass and multi award winning radio station.

Kool FM first broadcast on 28th November 1991 on the frequency of 94.5FM with its signal powering over the airwaves across London and the surrounding counties.  Started by Eastman and Smurf they pioneered the Jungle Drum and Bass sound and played a crucial role in the development of jungle, drum and bass music. 

Playing cat and mouse with the DTI they stayed one step ahead and consistently remained on air since 1991.  

In 1996 Kool FM launched a Midlands branch showcasing artists from the Midlands and broadcasted on 105.6FM / 92.4FM until 2002.

In August 2010 Kool FM rebranded as Kool London, an internet radio station and remained as the No.1 station. Being internet based they created the infamous Chatroom, with hundreds logged in chatting in real time with the DJs and MCs. 

After 31 years, Eastman and Suzy G stepped down, and the station was acquired by Rinse FM in 2023, who branded it back as Kool FM.

I found pirate radio when I was 14 in 1988. I used to listen to Fantasy, Chillin and Pulse, then in 1992 I discovered Kool FM.  Kool first broadcast on 28th November 1991 on the frequency of 94.5FM, from Hackney London. 

There was something about Kool that seemed different, it was more organised, more professional. This explains why they remained at the top of jungle drum n bass pirate radio for all these years.

I quickly became addicted to recording the shows, they were happening live there and then and I just knew I needed to record. Back then I didn’t know how big Kool would become or how many thousands of recordings I would end up with.

Big up to Eastman, Smurf, Suzi, all the DJs, MCs and support team, too many names to mention.
