Always running forward, never coming back. An implacable, invisible, impalpable truth, haunting each one of us, as we all expect it to ring the bell sooner or later. 

Hey, here’s a theory: couldn’t we distort it sometimes, even just a tiny bit? Because Lyon-based label SousTraitance may have managed to finally alter its course through its last compilation, a year and a half after the inaugural one.
“Looking for MTH” V/A successively stretches and contracts the passing time, or at least how we perceive it. Lose yourself in tempo fluctuations and audio glitches, between the slow, entrancing rites of Jan Loup, Israfil and Sabla, the atmospheric dilatations of Isabassi, Marion Castor and Inhmost, or the high-paced, feverish, raging outbursts of Tera Octe, Loïcc and Tadan.

To be released in limited-edition CD and digital on January 25, 2023: 9 tracks over one hour, that could actually go round the clock or vanish in the blink of an eye, we just can’t tell anymore.

Taking over Tapes #101 is Kincaid, the moniker of Joe Arthur, an artist based between London and Berlin, who focuses his production and DJing style on the overlapping fringes of multiple genres. From groove laden percussion to sound design infused textural detail, Arthur’s sounds and sets are not to be missed.

He has released records with Well Street, Grid, Accidental Meetings, Redstone Press, Control Freaks and more to wide ranging acclaim. His unique approach to production and sound design has also sent him on a string of multidisciplinary collaborations. Most recently collaborating with Mercury Nominated composer and artist Hannah Peel, as well as Visual specialists Uncharted Limbo collective on the sound track for Alexander Whitley’s contemporary ballet ‘Anti Body’.

Welcome to Aqualaxy, a collaborative project where Warning joins forces with art historian C.C. McKee from Philadelphia and international queer activist dia_shi from Berlin. Accompanying McKee’s book on the debut album by late-90s electronic pop band Aqua, Aqualaxy is a compilation of contemporary queer artists from North America and Europe commissioned to create their own takes on songs from Aqua's debut album. The result is an expansive blossoming variety of music, from sizzling trance pop, to eerie darkwave atmospheres, to cheeky dancefloor weapons.

With Aqualaxy, Warning presents a release that playfully deviates from the label's usual tracks, highlights trans musicians, and offers fresh takes on nostalgic favourites to the community. So, welcome to Aqualaxy! Embrace its endless fluidity, a space where everything becomes possible, where some changes aren’t even a second thought. Did you know that when the kobudai reef fish reaches a certain size she changes her sex from female to male? Did you know that when the largest female in a school of Clownfish dies the male swaps sex to take her place? Protogyny, protandry, it all just seems like fun; not to mention the host of genders and ways of fucking we don’t even have words for as humans! In Aqualaxy, everything is possible under the water. Who Am I?

Raised in the lush West Sichuan Basin and currently based in the energetic city of Shanghai: Temple Rat is a highly skilled producer, DJ and musician who pushes and innovates the fusion of forward thinking techno blended Chinese traditional music and  her own playing of the ancient two stringed Chinese instrument Ehru. 

Over the last few years Temple Rat has gathered fans from across the globe with her re-imagining of Chinese traditional music and in 2019 her debut Boiler Room attracted a great deal of attention as the magic of the music captivated the Shanghai club goers. 

Temple Rat released their debut project Spring Dawn in August 2019: The EP is a captivating work that continues to merge the two worlds of traditional and present day by using forward thinking beautifully recorded sounds and punchy perfectly mixed drums. The future is brighter than ever for China’s electronic music scene as it rapidly becomes one of the most exciting and prominent spaces for dance music in the world, and Temple Rat is for sure one of the brightest artists at the forefront.
