PREMIERE: Aphex Twin - Windowlicker (NYRK Edit) [关于档案的]

First up in a curated selection for the Joyride Mix Series from our sweet-pea resident ketia is the gorgeous @djshahmaran, with a 1hr, 20 mins wax only mix full of transcendental bassy goodness from the Rotterdam resident. 

In their words; 
"I was inspired by the idea that light cannot exist without dark. 'S3xy' music or sets are usually defined by particular genres: tribal house, techno, trance, etc.. Instead, in order to stay true to my sound, I wanted to explore the darker side of a 'sexy' set with my record collection. It's not about the music being 'hard' or more 'harsh', but about a hypnotic state carried through syncopated rhythms in genres like dubstep and electro, which personally are the best for shaking my hips. 

Recorded in one take from my bedroom, this vinyl mix has both uplifting as well as darker moments, for one cannot exist without the other."

A truly cathartic exploration through their record collection; settle in for the highs, lows and moments of stasis

003 - DJ Shahmaran

Danny Goliger has been steadily rising as one of the forefront bass & techno producers in L.A. for several years with releases on staple labels such as Dirtybird, Scuffed Recs, 3024 & Magic City alongside his residency on the renowned Dublab Radio. We are super excited to welcome him to the Faux Poly family with his stunning EP 'Say I Do.'

In Danny's own words: "Inspiration was pretty wide ranging on this EP. From UK funky, to dembow, to dubstep, post-dubstep, and garage. I've incorporated elements of these grooves and aesthetics into modern bassy club tracks."

The EP blends together two 4x4 rollers with "Say I Do" and "Weightless," alongside halftime bass led dubstep tracks "Gimme That" and "Pearls." All of these ideas were born out of modular hardware jams and delivered with Danny's distinctive ear for detail. The whole EP has already become a firm favourite within the Faux Poly family, and if you've seen any of us play this summer, then chances are you've been lucky enough to hear these on a big system already.

Words from Danny:
"I'm hoping with this record to capture the feeling of club experiences that are dark and moody, while also maintaining an ethereal lightness.Tunes that are bass-y and gritty in tone but not necessarily heavy and aggressive. Something meditative and maybe slightly introspective to keep people locked in."

Hi, 

Here is my first self release on a new personal label called ‘Heart Somersault’. 

I'm using this as a way to share my tracks that are more hard hitting/anthemic, and geared towards the club. 

I've been testing these all over in shows for the last year, and they had a real impact on my recent tours. 

The approach here is DJ friendly, underpinned by feelings of euphoria that make the heart spin. Textural Techno!

A Bold New Direction from Kyoto's Finest

Kyoto-based dance music label NC4K's boss, Stones Taro, delivers a daring new EP in the third installment of the NC4KWAX series. Known for his dance-floor-focused beats and impeccable sound quality, Stones Taro pushes the boundaries of his sound on this release.
The EP kicks off with "Clutch," a track that immediately captivates with its addictive vocal chops and signature Stones Taro breakbeats. The up-and-down bassline provides a solid foundation, ensuring that your speakers get a workout. "Busy Lip" follows suit, with its chaotic mix of vocal samples and percussion creating a sense of euphoria. The clap on the third beat adds a challenging yet rewarding twist to the track. The third track is pure Stones Taro, featuring a ravey breakbeat sound with trance-like elements that elevate the track to new heights. Finally, Roman producer Christopher Ledger delivers a stunning remix of the fourth track, transforming it into a tech-house masterpiece with intricate arrangements and a deep, bass-driven groove.
