Here's 'Blush' - the second single and title track from Facta's debut LP, out on 2nd April. 

Recorded unusually quickly over a short stint in early 2020, the record is the product of a period of refreshed and unfussy creativity. It’s an innovative and distinctly contemporary album that moves a good few steps beyond the artist’s work to date - loosely rooted in UK dance music but taking added influence from ambient, modern classical, dreampop, Balearic, folk music and beyond. The result is a lush, ornate record populated by aqueous pads, bleeping arps, wandering melodies and sparse broken rhythms; acoustic instruments that play out alongside FM synths, all processed with a pristine UV sheen inherited from modern pop music.

‘The Pulse of Iron’ an apt reflection of modern progression into the unknown industrial world. It comes from Naarm based artist, Consulate who has found a home on Pure Space Records for our 10th label release. On this EP, Consulate delivers four tracks of dance music for the dystopian with a slick DnB sheen.

On the A-side ‘Postrach’ the centres the record squarely within the realm of its influences, its intricate percussive patterns offset by industrial ambience. Here a half-time snare cuts through the abyss of ambience, while a floating topline caries you through dreary territories. Completing the A-side is ‘Spec 4’, a subtly staunch percussive track that is fueled by acute vocal sampling, weighty breaks and a hypnotic dub infused bassline.

The flip side heads back into half-time territory with ‘The Fear’. Delayed vocal samples paired with dub-style stabs pulse in a heady but immersive rhythm. Rounding out the record is ‘Warlock’, a percussive track that proves the restraint Consulate has in his craft. Moody, sliced vocals skitter through delayed percussion creating a sense of tension. When it feels as though the storm is just about to hit, you are enveloped by fast-paced jungle breaks drawing you deeper into the eye of the storm.

The glass building soared high into the sky, its floor to ceiling windows reflecting the sun as dusk set in. He surveyed the city below him; from up here the people looked like tiny ants, much like the team of workers he now forced to do his bidding. It hadn't been easy for him to get to this level of superiority, he'd had to step on a lot of people to make it to the top; something only certain people could do without guilt or shame trailing them. The only trajectory he had set his mind on was upwards.

There's been a lot of good stuff coming out of the Programm camp: the London-based label dealing in "system frequencies to make you dance." Since launching with a VA of their nearest and dearest, they've set the tone for their explorations into breaks, dubstep and bass, following this up with their first proper EP: a four-tracker from D3U5E & Gav, that paid homage to conspiracy theories, obsession and corporate illusion. Now D3U5E returns solo to take care of the label's third release, delivering two tracks that showcase his own spin on shuffling bass-driven electronics.

Late 2020, J. Albert released "Young American Artist" a sentimental and dreary deluge into ambient stylings. Then left us hanging in early 2021 (working under his vocally driven alias JIO) with “4D4U4MEP”. “Phase Portrait” has married the themes of his last two EP's. Hinting at UKG, Drill, Big Beat, and R&B this album is not short of color, and influence.

OS Premiere: J. Albert - Only That You [Towhead Recordings]

@leshlingi debuts on Scuffed Recordings with three tracks spanning anthemic breaks, wonky UK techno and percussive club music.

Born in Iceland and now based in London, INGI has begun to make a name for himself in the UK’s club scene with his brand of broken UK club music, pulling on influences from across the electronic music spectrum.

His ‘Wrestle’ EP on Fly By Night Recordings was released at the end of 2021 and saw support from the likes of Madam X, Danielle, Anastasia Kristensen, and Frazer Ray.

Starting off proceedings on the EP is the electrifying title track ‘Fade’, anchored around glitched-out vocals and powerful breaks.

Up next is ‘Kurt’, an altogether more leftfield club track with swung percussion, robotic bass stabs, and metallic synth work.

Closing out the release is ‘Point’, whose staccato vocal stabs and rolling percussion pay homage to some of the best of UK techno and bass music.

INGI - Fade EP (Previews)

Rich Daddies offer their first EP on Naarm/Melbourne-based Best Effort Records. The Get Close EP is the debut disc by the anonymous Australian housemates made during one of the longest lockdowns in the world.

Over the course of four tracks, the duo draws influences from UKG and bass music with parallels to fellow Australian producers Logic1000 and DJ Plead.

Rich Daddies - Come & Get It

The sun shone bright over the town, leaving the green spaces scorched and dry. It was that balmy kind of heat that made your clothes cling to your body and forced you to constantly mop your brow; she didn’t mind much, she felt at her most content when she was in the sun - it was her happy place. As soon as autumn rolled around the thought of the impending winter forced her into hibernation mode, she didn’t care much for the biting cold and crisp mornings. When spring came she’d emerge once again, only the sun held that power…

Seoul-based imprint Reach out Records are on a mission to raise funds for local causes whilst shining a light on artists from the country’s underground music scene. So far the non-profit imprint has supported projects and initiatives like Angel House, a residence for disabled people; their friend Tarek’s cancer treatment; and homeless support group PLUR. After a four year hiatus they return with their fourth VA release, ‘For The Youth’, which features music from Yetsuby, DJ Botermelk, Korea Town Acid and more, covering electro, acid, breaks, bass and more. This time they’re raising money for local charity, DDing Dong, who help support LGBTQIA+ teens in South Korea by providing them with counselling, shelter and support.

With an extensive back catalogue under his belt including releases on XL Recordings, Keysound, 17 Steps, and Unknown to the Unknown, Hugo Massien is set to release his debut LP on E-Beamz this Friday. 

‘Metamorphosis’ showcases Hugo Massien’s incredible approach to the long player format, allowing him to produce across varying different soundscapes including wonky beats, trance rave and acid tinge melodies. For the opener ‘Chasing Shadows’, he kicks things off with euphoria, creating an emotional peak time weapon with dizzying synths, hypnotic vocals and bass heavy breaks.
