Final 2021 - Mixuri

⫷ 𝔻𝕒𝕣𝕜 𝔻𝕠𝕝𝕡𝕙𝕚𝕟 ⫸ Are you aware that Orcas belong to the Dolphin Family? I don’t find it that obvious at first sight because of firstly, their size that is closer to a whale than a « regular » dolphin and secondly because of the name « Killer Whales » that is given to them. Not because they are whales but because they do eat whales sometimes, especially wild transient orcas. Orcas are at the top chain predators. Even great white sharks « fear » them.  Yet, they never attacked any human beings. They like to come close, watch us, play, and interact even sometimes but they have no interest in eating us. Why? What do they have to teach us? 

I sometimes wonder where this chemical attraction I have for Orcas comes from.
And it is now at its highest pick! I understood they are pushing me to dig deep into myself. To go see the darkest parts. And I understand those are the parts that give me my highest potential!

With my friend Julie, we did not swim with Orcas (yet) but we did swim with wild dolphins in the Red Sea of Egypt. This trip and this encounter were some of the deepest we got to experience, on various levels. We dived deep into the clear waters of the Red Sea and facing those wild dolphins was like facing ourselves in a mirror.

And what came out could only be beautiful, liberating, and joyful at the end!

At the occasion of their wedding festival, « La Farfaderie » Julie and her husband Omar, booked me to play… twice in two days! I felt super privileged!

For the first set, nighttime, I had around 2 hours to embark my audience into a special journey. I wanted it dark and crispy, deep and jumpy. So I decided to step out a little bit of my comfort zone that is downtempo and explore other genres like tech-house or melodic techno and even Italo Disco. Also because the Dj playing after me was going to play Italo Disco so I had to adapt to create a smooth transition between us too.

I was a bit tensed when I started playing but a few people came to me to tell me how great it. I was filled with so much support, before, during, and after the gig. It was incredible and those who were there have no idea how much courage it gave me and how it helped me gain in confidence! 🙏

༄ Back to my Roots

I’m listening to electronic music since I’m 15. At the time, I was living in Marrakech with my family and it’s where I heard of psytrance music for the first time.

In 2004, I arrived in the urban jungle of Paris. I discovered the Parisian clubbing scene and was spending my weekends at the « Redlight » and the mythic « Rex Club » most times, the « Mix », « Tryptique » or « l’Elysée Montmartre », sometime and after partying at the famous « Follow Me » or  « KitKat ». A great era in which I was discovering the music and night scene, exploring all the good parts of it but also falling down the rabbit hole sometimes. Part of the process… ;-)

4 years later, I decide to go to my first festival. I don’t choose the smallest one, to begin with. Taking my backpack, not even a tent, alone, with a few people I never met, I drive to Portugal and end up at Boom Festival. I let you imagine what the Boom can do to a person that has never been to a festival before! A huge psychedelic journey that blew my mind, opened part of my consciousness, and changed my life forever…

This is a turning point for me and I let down the clubs to rather more decorated parties. People dress up more, it’s also more fun and more spiritual as well. 
Psytrance becomes my world. Psytrance is a generic name like you would say Techno. There are many genres inside and my favorite were: Dark Forest & Dark Psy (140 > 180bpm), High Tech  (180 > 200bpm) but also Dark Prog and Psygressive which are the downtempo versions of psytrance. I kinda know all the genres very well, just ask me :D

The deep, psychedelic, organic strong vibrations of the bass trigger me. It’s visceral. I could dance for hours and hours. I went to many festivals for 5 years until another personal turning point occurred and guided me towards another musical path. I could tell you the story in another post if you want to hear it.

Recently, I listened to « Forest » again and I was happily surprised to see how it triggered me again, how my body reacted. I loved the sensations felt.
I decided that I should do a forest set one day.

༄ Creative & Emotional Process

Two weeks ago, my close friends and I organized a small event called Jambon Burn. I wanted to play one Downtempo set and one Psytech set.
Instead, I designed one and single journey « Rainbow Psyracy ».

Psytech is a form of Psychedelic Techno that is taking the world by storm! It's a hybrid genre that sits between Forest and Techno.
In this pharmacopeia of sounds, I explored the depths of these realms and created this set that starts with dark dirty downtempo sounds. Followed by those psychedelic, crispy, organic sounds. Stepping out of the depth to come back to the surface with jumpy sounds.

The reaction on the dance floor was crazy! Really, guys, a huge thank you for making this moment so unique and magical. I felt like a fish in the water, in my trueness with sensations I had never felt before. High, Raw & Alive.  Happy as f*** ! 

Bold piracy surprises us all.

༄ Rainbow

Even though this musical journey is rather dark, it brought a lot of Joy, to me and to the dancers.
We turned Sensual Darkness into Colorful Rainbow. Our root chakras liberating themselves from any blockages, freeing the path for the energy to circulate into our entire bodies and minds.
Turns out that the theme of the scenography we designed with my dear friend Sonia Apsara & Adrien Utchanah was « Rainbow ».
Were we inspired? ;-) I like to think we were…

Wooooow, people 🤯❤️😍 - what an outstanding experience playing at fusion festival for the first time! We proudly present the very first recording of a bassara live set! It's as raw and pure as our gig was - with a glitch here and there, but straight from the heart :)We had a lot of fun playing - and to see the dubstation packed with all of your smiling faces made us sooo happy.
Thanks to all the people dancing, shouting and feeling the groove with us at the dubstation! And thank you, Kulturkosmos, for making this great festival happen and inviting us for performing our second-ever live set.

Måna Hõala Anå means “Life Force Awakening” in Hawaïen, a language I affection a lot and that resonates in my whole body. May you find this force within you and make it your best friend.

Hedoné’s workshops program inspired me a lot to design my set. I wanted it dirty, sensual, and dreamy. Hope you enjoy it and that this journey awakens your playful self! 

My endless gratitude to Hedoné’s community for inviting me to play in what turned out to be a most powerful transformative experience for me. Thank you to all the ones who stayed up all night and did not go to bed to attend my gig on Sunday 10 am, sharing the dancefloor with early risers. The energy was beautiful!

LAS FESTIVAL 2022 | RISING STAGE | 01 Jul. 2022

2022 - it’s a wrap! Ein Jahr, in dem die Welt gefühlt nonstop Kopf stand, aber gleichzeitig auch ein Jahr, in dem die Realitätsflucht in Form von geselligen Feierlichkeiten und allerlei hedonistischen Aktivitäten für viele wieder fast wie in den good old times betrieben werden konnte. Lass uns dieses Jahr etwas verallgemeinernd als ‚ambivalent‘ zusammenfassen. In gewisser Weise ambivalent ist auch dieser Mix von @planetcaravanofficial, weil er seine Inspiration in dem Gegensatz aus besinnlicher Ruhe und rastlosem Tatendrang rund um die Holiday Season findet. Ganz ambivalent sind daher auch die Gelegenheiten, zu denen du dir Schleichcast°35 zu Gemüte führen kannst. Ob in einer ruhigen Minute vor dem Sturm der Silvesternacht, vielleicht schon vorfreudig durch-die-Wohnung-tanzend inmitten der Vorbereitung auf eine krachende Sause oder beim Auskurieren der Aftermath. So oder so wird dich dieses Set ganz bestimmt überraschen und vielleicht wird es dich auch darin bestärken, dass die Welt des Downtempo auch in 2023 noch reichlich Entdeckungspotenzial birgt. Danke lieber Nils (aka Planet Caravan) für diesen fantastischen musikalischen Jahresabschluss! <3

>>Wer bist du und woher kommst du?
Ich bin Nils und mit meinem Downtempo Projekt Planet Caravan in Zürich sesshaft.

>>Wie kamst du zum Auflegen?
Die Welt der Musik ist mir als Produzent bekannt geworden. Mit dem Auflegen habe ich dann erst begonnen als ich dachte, dass ich eigentlich meine Songs gerne teilen möchte. So durfte ich dann mein erstes DJ Set 2018 in Zürich spielen.

>>Was hat dich für das Set inspiriert?
Die Ruhe und das Stürmische von Weihnachten. Zur einen Seite sind die Festtage etwas sehr schönes und "ruhiges". Doch jede*r ist immer unglaublich gestresst... der Weihnachtsstress halt. Das Set soll das Ruhige und das "Stressige" zusammenführen und euch die "Geschichte" der Festtage erzählen.

>>Was gefällt dir besonders an "langsamer" Musik?
Ich habe Liebe zur langsamen und schnelleren Musik. Doch ich merke beim Produzieren vor allem, dass es für mich schöner ist, langsam zu produzieren. Denn bei der langsamer Musik gibt es sehr viel mehr "Platz" um den Song mit Synthis zu befüllen.

>>Welche Ziele als Künstler willst du noch erreichen?
Für mich ist es wichtig, dass ich mein Ding durchziehen kann. Ich habe mir per se kein Ziel des "Erfolges" gewünscht. Mein Ziel ist es, dass ich noch lange Freude an der Musik habe und diese auch teilen darf.

>>Dein Geheimtipp gegen den Kater am nächsten morgen.
Mein Geheimtipp ist gar nicht so geheim. Kopf unter die kalte Dusche oder in ein Eisbecken hilft, da der Körper somit die "Ressourcen" für das Bekämpfen der Kälte benutzt und somit den "Katerschmerz" vergisst. ;) Das aller Beste gegen einen Kater ist natürlich etwas Ausgewogenes zum Frühstück oder vor dem Schlafen noch eine Bouillon trinken.
