In a technical report, supported by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) policy statement on literacy promotion, it argues that promoting early literacy is an essential component of primary pediatric care practice. Furthermore, within a set of recommendations, this union statement establishes the fundamental importance of reading to children, even from birth, as a way to build positive and enriching interactions based on the language parents and caregivers use in storytelling and children's stories.
