Somne returns to AURA DINAMICA.

The label head follows up his 2020 LP Ostinati Ritmici with a new EP of floor-focused material that combines lush synth work with breaks and razor sharp sound design in the artist’s characteristic style.

Where Ostinati Ritmici drew on hypnotic techno and more abstract compositional techniques for inspiration, New Energy sees a shift in the artist’s approach, marrying careful songwriting with effective production to build tracks that exist as both DJ set highlights and standalone recordings. Uplifting title track New Energy builds neatly over its run-time, a well-defined break underpinning bass and pad components that shift and bend in tandem with a stylish, gated vocal. Blue Spirit takes its lead from classic UKG, updating familiar components for modern sound systems and adding unique layers of grit and noise. Skipping drums flex alongside stylish bass motifs to drive the composition forward with euphoric breakdowns charging the mood before the drops. Emotive roller Midnight City closes out the EP, the only 4x4 recording on the record, delivered in classic Somne style with dense, percussive drums working alongside a pitch-bent bassline and neat harmonic components – as musical as it is effective as a DJ tool.

A collaborative meeting between Varg2™ and Exploited Body has produced a scalding mess of sweat and suspicion across five headstrong tracks, gesturing towards a new and recombinant vector that's lurking out there during hiatus.

Recorded together in Helsinki, 'Etsin Turvaa (Parting is Certain & Loss Will Come Again)' yokes the morbid mechanics of Varg2™'s stroboscopic dread to the pyretic catharsis of Exploited Body's ascendant, club-sourced flares.

The closing track, 'Haunt Me Like the Snakes That Killed You,' offers the smallest respite following the bedlam of 'Fuck You Forever (Parting is Certain & Loss Will Come Again).' The opening pair, 'Karhü' and 'Etsin Turvaa (I Promise this Will Be the Last Time),' spiral out of control from the elegant core that each track's rougher elements are pinned to.

As an offspring of ∄ club, for its first anniversary, Standard Deviation presents a compilation of tracks by eight emerging Ukrainian artists with diverse musical backgrounds. The compilation aims to reflect the current state of the Ukrainian electronic music scene. It includes Nastya Vogan (@nastyavogan) and Recid (@recid), residents of the ∄ club, Voin Oruwu (@voin-oruwu) with his futurist sound, singers and producers from Lviv, Katarina Gryvul (@dgalapita) and Maryana Klochko (@maryana-klochko), Pep Gaffe community resident Tofudj (@tofudj), experimental musician John Object (@johnobject), as well as hardcore and gabber music purveyor Genetica (@genetica_eto).

Veyl presents 'Nuit' - a split-EP between two excellent projects we're enraptured to share with you. Both hailing from France, Blind Delon (Toulouse) and Contre Soirée (Paris) share a similar vision, bringing music from before any of their birth dates into the world of today.

Dedicating their sound to cold bass lines and synthesizers, the 80s, french post-punk and black romanticism, both acts spent their nights observing, describing, thinking, crying, each in their own way. Building a bridge between the melancholy and urgency defining that era, ’Nuit' is the fruit of this labour and will be out on January 25th.
