Groof has been twisting electronic devices through his whole life, more than 30 years to be precise. He was there when techno was founded, he released proper techno when nobody had any interest, back in the early nineties. The uncertain days of the pandemic supposed an injection of time in his busy teacher agenda and he found spare time to develop intelligent dancefloor weapons again.
 
Some of those works catch our attention immediately and the result is this extended digital EP, comprising 6 pure exercises of timeless techno.
 
Information Disorder opens fire with crazy metallic Fm sequences floating over a sharp and minimal beat that grows progressively as minutes go by. Direct and obsessive.
 
Inoculate is fast and metallic too, with panned industrial hits spicing a continuous sequence that keeps the flow nicely. No breakdowns, No obvious twists, hypnosis as a tool.
 
On Online Propaganda the pulse is kept high this time using shuffled percussive sequences over a traditional 909 groove. Minimal but quite effective when properly used.
 
Dystopian Future Now starts with no mercy, almost every component up since the starting point with an occasional hi-hat coming in and out wisely. Dense and dark but super dynamic at the same time.
 
Salto uses the capabilities of the stereo field in full potential, again with a minimalistic approach using a few elements constantly mutating over a lineal and abstract arrangement.
 
The release closes in an epic vein with the precious and floaty Cambios. Immensely reverberated pads going along a broken beat ideal to bring soul to a dirty techno set or close an open-air location at dawn.

New week, new mix! Hello Family, we are back with this new podcast mixed by Elisa Batti. Enjoy it!

Elisa Batti is a sound designer, pro­ducer and mul­ti­me­dia artist based in Ams­ter­dam.
Her activ­ity is diver­si­fied between a spec­trum of dif­fer­ent projects, all of them though, con­nected through one red line: elec­tronic music.

She started her career in 2007, work­ing for the con­tem­po­rary dance scene, exper­i­ment­ing with soft­wares and sounds, cre­at­ing sound­tracks and land­scapes for chore­o­g­ra­phers; through the years she also started col­lab­o­rat­ing with visual artists for sound instal­la­tions and inter­ac­tive tech­nol­ogy.
Her works have been pre­sented in many venues world­wide such as : Palais de Tokyo, Tai­wan National The­ater , Santar­can­gelo Fes­ti­val , Fusion Fes­ti­val , Kinetika museum, Bal­let Nationale de Mar­seille, Xavier La Boul­benne Art Gallery, just to name some.

In 2012 she decided to develop her own musi­cal project. Dig­ging down into this direc­tion leads her to the cre­ation of Vio­let Fall (2013). The band released 2 albums with the japan­ese label Pro­gres­sive Form.

Since 2015 Elisa Batti slowly stepped actively into the techno envi­ron­ment as a DJ.
As a techno pro­ducer, Elisa Batti released her first EP with Detroit Under­ground in Jan­u­ary 2018 and briefly after that together with her friend CYB she founded the label Imma­te­r­ial Archives. So far the label has released 5 EPs and many pro­duc­ers from the techno under­ground scene have been involved into it (Kaiser, VSK, Alfredo Mazz­illi, Denise Rabe, Wrong Assess­ment, Inso­late, Keikari, …).

Such a var­ied approach to the music is also due to Elisa’s back­ground, which is not strictly artis­tic. She grad­u­ated as envi­ron­men­tal engi­neer and con­tin­ued her aca­d­e­mic career achiev­ing a PhD and a Post Doc at the Tech­ni­cal Uni­ver­sity of Delft. She is cur­rently work­ing as a lec­turer at the Anton de Kom Uni­ver­sity Anton de Kom Uni­ver­sity and also as a free­lancer engi­neer for research projects.

Carara (@cararamusic) returns in full shape to our label after his brief appearance on our Hologram compilation. For this extended EP, he delivers six cuts of intense and dancefloor oriented techno, no interludes or ambient intro here, just pure juice for your peak time moments.

Along this EP many influences can be perceived, from the rugged beats of Birmingham to the centro European nineties flavors or even some sci-fi techno.

First number is YSP 001, sampled vocals run over a relentless continuous groove spiced with synth details and drones. A true dancefloor burner.

YSP 002 is more complex in the elements, again a continuous but funky foundation and hypnotic synth lines running all over the place.

Third cut YSP 003 goes subtle and sci-fi, with filtered components on the first bars that soon are completed with several percussive layers in an evolving arrangement.

Number four YSP 004, lysergic, and mental but still and playable. You can call it trance if the desired state is that. Special mention to the rhythmic workout and the occasional bleeps.

YSP 005 is maybe the most industrial cut, where Fm sequencers and repetition are the key elements. One more time several percussion layers interleave to create a proper physical exercise.

Last slice YSP 006, here you can perceive some old school vibes, and an illusion of melody over a compact groove. Ideal track for the closing with the club lights on.

Oscar Mulero's DJ career has been as prolific and long lasting as the evolution of dance music. As a key figure in its development, Oscar has always absorbed new trends and kept his finger on the pulse of electronic dance music, from the end of the 80’s right up to the present day. It is impossible to understand his genius without taking into account the tireless work he has carried out behind the decks for over two decades. Production-wise he's been releasing records since the late 90’s, with countless 12" vinyls and several studio albums, as well as many remixes for the best players in the scene.

He runs Warm Up, his very own imprint, since 2000 as well as the label PoleGroup Records since 2004, both of which have reached the 50 releases mark. On 2013 he started a series of live A/V performances under several project names like Light and Dark, Biolive and Monochrome AV.

In 2019 he will celebrate his thirty-year career with a very special secret lineup party in Madrid that will be much talked about because of its concept and the quality of the guests.
