They are the "Sous Soul", promising youngsters with great technical ability and a very high quality. In this case we are talking about this wonderful track called "Macarena", great bassline, powerful percussion and a groove that is sweeping the best dancefloor in the world! Accompanying the original mix there is back another great talent: Mirco Caruso! That in this case he reworked the track by creating a remix more clean and at the same time very addictive. Following an excellent entry in our SPEICHER series with “Speicher 94” (KOMPAKT EXTRA 94 - co-helmed by Reinhard Voigt), the much- acclaimed full length “Restless” (KOMPAKT 327 CD 123) hit turntables two years ago,
TERRANOVA aka Fetisch, the creative mind & producer behind the project he likes to describe as 'the deep space electric ark’ has been in orbit since the release of 'Terranova DJ Kicks' (!K7) in 1997.

TERRANOVA* now returns to the spotlight with COSMO EP, a jacking four-tracker inspired by raw Chicago House, early NYC Electro , old school computers /A.I. and some very special analog &digital machines featuring 2 excellent collaborations with Milan based artists.

Opening track COSMOCHORD features the Italian DJ legend Flashmob. The result is a peak time monochord banger that takes both producers’ extensive expertise in propelling dance floor cuts to new heights. COSMOCODE feat VOLTAGUE intense psychedelic Techno again with peak time quality.

LANGSAM is an elegant, driving example of classic dance floor electronica. A skilled combination of an 808 with an obscure vintage beatbox of eastern origin, an Oberheim OB8 and a 1970 Kunstkopf Mic Instructions mixed on the original Deutsche Grammophon 1950 Valve mixer.

PERFECT HAPPINESS wraps up this action-packed release with some a twisted afro stomper lead by a drunk sounding computer bouncing on the mic.

Manuel Kane & Kiki Botonaki - We Fly (Christos Fourkis Remix)

Story of this mixtape begun from my wish to bring much deserved attention to one of the hidden heroes of Ghana and African highlife scene Atakora Manu. Man of various talents Manu b.1940 - d.2015 was a composer, vocalist, guitarist, arranger and studio sound engineer. Manu’s uniquely funky and minimal highlife sound with laid back cosmic reggae and electronic sounds mixed in with drops of afrobeat has always intrigued me and I have loved his approach to highlife music from the very first hearings. 

Manu, originating from Ashanti region of Ghana started his music career with Princess Trio in 1960’s and then went on to become the lead guitarist in Kakaiku’s no.2 band.  After enjoying some success and hit singles with Kakaiku’s Manu engineered and recorded more traditional highlife with various bands throughout the 1970’s also dipping his toes to religious/gospel styles. 
Starting from early 1980’s his signature sound started to really come together and would develop with the help of added synths, funky instrumentations and reggae vibes to one of the greatest examples of Ghana highlife of the era. 

Manu’s discography is moderately known for deep-end afroheads, but theres holes, ”unknown” records still appear and lots of his music is totally unaccessible. His later works released in tiny labels in US and Ghana especially are very hard to come by and are rare sights. In this mix I have intentionally included tracks from his hard to catch LP’s that have not been available online to bring light to his vision and these little known gems on wax.  Almost totally lost in time and still very much under the radar I think that Manu’s irresistible music has lots to offer for fans of African and highlife music not forgetting tropical DJ’s and their audiences all around the world.

Jinku was commissioned by the Alliance Francaise Nairobi, for their 70th anniversary, to do a mix showcasing Kenya's musical heritage and highlight Alliance Francaise contribution to arts and culture. Step in and explore the sounds of Kenya!
