Danza Nativa turns 5 years and decides to celebrate in a big way. After 15 releases that managed to capture the attention of the entire scene, the Buenos Aires label once again celebrates an anniversary with a compilation by several artists. It is also his debut in vinyl format, something that demonstrates the great support of his followers throughout these years. An album that has several exponents around the world, this release is made up of 15 tracks in which you can find deep techno, dub, drone and abstract techno. Twenty-three years on from its original release, the debut album of American artist Mike Parker stands proud as a blueprint for deep, hypnotic techno in the new millennium. Originally published as a CD-only edition on Parker’s own Geophone label, Field Records are now giving Dispatches the first full vinyl release it so richly deserves - spread across six sides and reproducing Parker’s distinctive artwork at scale. A stealthy classic spoken about in hushed tones by techno connoisseurs - this new edition should gain the wider recognition it rightly deserves. 

Charting the course of Parker’s career reads like the evolution of deep techno itself - moving from early collaborations with Donato Dozzy to appearances on seminal labels such as Prologue, Semantica and Spazio Disponibile. The essence of his approach was forged early on, honing techno’s propulsion into a raw essence without losing any of the weight. It’s an exercise in minimalism, but the sound is still monolithic and engulfing, crystal clear in its intention and devoted to the power of subtle pressure. When the decay on a reverb opens up a fraction, Parker’s music leaves enough space for you to notice. Incremental shifts become monumental in his hands and his commitment to subliminal layering reveals hidden depths the further you submit to his hypnotic sound. 

This definitive edition of Dispatches looks at the vinyl singles which accompanied the album’s original release and creates a more complete picture of the area that Parker was exploring at the time. It’s the first time that the alternate take of icy depth charge ‘Copper Variations: CV1’ appears on wax, as goes for the pneumatic tension of ‘Reduction’ and evocative miniature sound sculpture ‘Blue Equals Black’. Expanding the album beyond its original CD form, epic rarity ‘Dissolution 99’ presides over the final side, while the standout Voiceprint release is now represented in full with the inclusion of heavyweight stepped techno workout ‘Voiceprint: Voice Two’. 

Able to sustain his own creative vision without cowing to the trends or expectations of any scene or clique, Parker’s music has progressed on its own terms. What this reissue demonstrates is how fully formed his vision was - even at a relatively early stage. In an era where the deep techno scene is thriving, Dispatches feels all the more relevant, undiluted by time and still unmatched in its immersive perfection.

Celebrations are in store, as we’re overjoyed to see the lovely Argentinian label Danza Nativa hit its fifth birthday in stride. From the start, the imprint helmed by Alderaan, Forest On Stasys, and Kyntral has been a proverbial force to be reckoned with, providing many a favorite tune over the years. We’ve been following them closely, and have enjoyed the progression of sound, a progression which is evident in their seminal 5 Years of Danza Nativa compilation. Featuring contributions from Anthony Linell, Amandra, echologist, Plants Army Revovler, Polygonia, Dino Sabatin, Luigi Tozzi, Claudio PRC, Daniel[i], Vanoni, Shoal, Vera Logdanidi, as well as all three founders, the compilation packs an incredible punch and speaks volumes to how well respected the label has become over the years.

Our premiere comes from fellow New York based artist, Brendon Moeller and his echologist moniker. The raucous Mobil comes charging out of the gate with an upbeat tempo and dubby pads, providing a dose of energy to pick listeners up. As the tune progresses, growling synths and a litany of percussion, and textures pop in and out of focus, providing a jazzy ensemble to keep things moving.

Danza Nativa’s 5 year celebration compilation will be released both digitally and for the first time ever from the label on vinyl, the 15th of April. Congratulations to Alderann, Forest On Stasys, and Kyntral, here’s to 5 more years of Danza Nativa!

Korean producer Soolee's second full-length album, Void Time Axis, is a mix of arrangements designed for effective repetition and change, polyrhythmic grooves composed of various rhythms in parallel, earworm synths, and deeply refined ambient sounds.

The eight tracks are represented by letters with different meanings. 시(Si) 始 Start, 대(Dae) 對 treat, 감(Gam) 堪 Endure, 정(Jung) 正 right, 류(Ryu) 流 flow, 인(Inn) 忍 patience, 극(Geuk) 極 extreme, 공(Gong) 空 Void. And these letters are arranged to form a story.

Void Time Axis, completed as a single image by removing the time axis from the entire story, is an album of original sound expressed with the identity of a Korean techno producer.
