With our 15th episode, we welcome another very talented artist to our Herbarium series. It is @alkini, the label head of the fabulous imprint @a-biotic. In his journey, he leads us through many different stages of consciousness, mixing intriguing beatless pieces with hypnotic rhyhthms.

Alkini chose the plant Lavender / Lavandula for this trip. Some words about it from his side:
'Various influences, various hues. 
I wanted to write something that resonates with myself using music that I admire.

Its color being my favorite and its scent never leaving me indifferent, lavender is the plant that brings back the most memories for me. 
It originates from Provence, in the south of France. A familiar place to me.

Originating from the western Mediterranean basin, lavender was already used by the Romans to preserve linen and scent baths. 
In Provence, lavender was employed in the Middle Ages for the production of perfumes and medicines, but it wasn't until the 19th century that its cultivation expanded.'

With decades of experience and as founder of both acclaimed party ‘Future Terror’ and record label ‘Bitta’, DJ Nobu has slowly but surely turned from being one of Japan's finest, to one of the world’s most in demand selectors. A great friend of Monument who delivered an incredible closing set at our first ever Monument City Festival in 2023, we couldn’t be happier to be marking the occasion with him. 

For this very special mix Nobu presents a stunning introspective excursion through electronica and deeper shades to celebrate the two milestones.

MNMT 400 : DJ Nobu

It's certainly been a very strange and unpleasant year, finishing on an extremely sour note. However, some very, very wonderful and beautiful music has been released despite this, helping elevate one's spirit above the noise and dismal situation our planet is facing.

I didn't celebrate new year (a pint with my pal was it)...but earlier in the evening I made myself record this 2.5 hour mix of some of my favourite ambient and downtempo music of the year.

Bio:
Tomas Jirku began making music in the golden era of minimal and glitch techno and helped to define the genres. Over twenty five years, fifteen albums, sixteen vinyl EPs, and countless remixes and compilations later, he has built a strong repertoire with his exploratory approach to music. After taking a break to focus on developing and exhibiting his experimental photography, he brought both worlds together with his most recent album on Silent Season and live performances which incorporate his otherworldly videos. Jirku's return to music is also marked by the inception of a new project under the alias Machine Emotion which sees him leaning into his longtime love of industrial music to make uncompromising techno and electro.

This has been an ongoing tradition for over a decade (by my count, this is the 13th year). This time, I didn’t even reach out with a friendly reminder. Mike Jedlicka of Optic Echo just let me know that he’s already on it, and here we are with a selection of his favourite vinyl releases of the year. Every single year, I complain about the amount of music, and every single year, I keep wanting even more. And even as I drown in all of the releases, it’s always amazing to discover new and fantastic sounds from a trusted source. This trusted source, of course, is Mike Jedlicka. Even if our tastes do not align on all the genres (and that’s a good thing, may I add), I can always appreciate a good selection when I hear one. Dear listeners, welcome to the eleventh installment of our Identity Formation listening sessions! We are thrilled to present to you @6047, also known as 6047 (GOAT), a Los Angeles-based open-format electronic DJ and producer. His musical diversity is beautifully reflected in both his mixes and productions.

Influenced by a wide array of electronic music styles, including house, techno, synth-pop, italo disco, freestyle, and electro, @6047 is known for his meticulous attention to detail. With 20 years of experience and progression, he specializes in programming conceptually rich and deconstructed mixes. His expertise extends to creating locked grooves and progressive mixes that traverse the spectrum from noise to jungle.

Rather than inundating you with a lengthy biography in the third person, @6047 prefers to let his music speak for itself. His mixes have graced the airwaves of premier podcasts and radio stations worldwide, featured in 15 countries, across 40 podcasts, and in 110 shows. Additionally, he serves as the host and curator of the Elektronik Tranzmissionz Podcast.

Welcome to the 5th chapter of the Ambient Sessions presented by Deep Electronics. MIxed by Apobothra from Moscow, Russia.

Bio:

Aleksei Klimkin (Apobothra) is a Moscow based electronic music producer who has been inspired by such musicians as The Future Sound of London, Autechre, Biosphere, Brian Eno, Basic Channel / Rhythm & Sound, DeepChord / Echospace, ASC / Mindpsan, bvdub, Fluxion, Quantec, Fingers In The Noise and others. Starting with drum&bass in 2006 his tastes have gradually shifted to deeper electronic music such as dub techno, deep techno and ambient. Many of his tracks have been supported by some big names on the scene. His first release with Apobothra alias was released on Spaceal Orbeats label in the end of 2013 and simultaneously became his first album. It is called ‘In Search for an Explanation’ and the production style there is based on author’s intoxication by science and particularly by astrophysics.
In real life "Apobothra" is an astronomical term whose meaning is quite similar to "Apogee", but while Apogee is the point of greatest distance between the Earth and its orbiting object, Apobothra is the furthermost point on the Black Hole orbit.

He's notably the planner behind the electronic music festival 'PROMPT', delivering fresh audiovisual experiences, and a co-founder of the underground music community 'tread', contributing to the establishment of a free and vibrant music ecosystem. He also maintains an active presence as a member of the renowned electronic music label 'Oslated'. Currently, he operates 'atdge', a DJ bar in Seoul, directly engaging and connecting with listeners on the ground.

Maharam is an American DJ and co-organizer of Final Passage, a Brooklyn-based event series emphasizing leftfield curation across both club and deep listening environments. Maharam's affinity for deeper sound is rooted in the melancholic landscapes of his Pacific Northwest upbringing, as well as his background as a guitarist and jazz vocalist. After moving to New York seven years ago, Brooklyn's rich DIY scene has been central to his life, acting as a constant source of inspiration and connection. In his mix for Oslated, Maharam shares a carefully crafted meditation through emotive ambient, dub techno, and textural electronics.

SLOWMOUTH (KR) - a Seoul-based DJ and producer who began his journey in 2010 from Cheonan, South Korea.
With over a decade in the minimal/deep techno scene, his sound explores shadowy grooves, spacious textures, and slow-building tension.

He is also the co-founder of Morsecode Records, a label from Asia’s underground that’s earned international recognition.
Having toured across Asia, North America, and Europe, SLOWMOUTH continues to develop a distinct presence in the global underground.
