Vatnaljóð began as an exploration of all the peculiar ways water gains and loses different sound qualities due to changes in temperature, volume, what container it's in and so on. The very first impulse and the basis for it actually came from finding out that humans are able to pick up on the difference between hot and cold water being poured. That got me thinking about how you could use water in different contexts to craft a story of sorts, something that might also work on a subconscious level.

Not only his mixes reflect his eclectic selection but also his own productions, self-published and released on the labels 'AUXWEGAUSDERMISERE' and 'knackless', also clearly show his musical orientation. As host of the Mindstretch event series in Halle, he offers a dedicated space to this kind of sound. The events are characterized by a thoughtful booking, whose stage is both the Charles Bronson and the 'Pierre Grasse' in Halle.

On the verge of collapse, false prophets are the masters of our streets, which have once again become the ill-famed boudoirs of an era we thought was over. They lavish the naive with the hope of a redemption that will never come, but feed on the fear of the other and of tomorrow. They erect protective towers without windows, but do not see the water rising in the avenues. Their followers dream of finding the now indescribable sensation of cold on their skin. Slaves of this blind faith, they break all ties with their environment, their land, and their free will.

While they were at the source of our uncontrolled skidding, new tangential beliefs may emerge. How many will be the fools running to listen to the last verses of their idols. How many will be the others seeking peace of the moment rather than the reminiscences of the past?

Although it has slipped from prominence in the current news cycles, Russia's aggression against Ukraine still continues to escalate.

As Ukrainian people are still in urgent need of support, we have come together using the only thing we know how, music.

We asked 21 artists from Futurepast's friends to create a track that keeps Ukraine's situation in mind and results in a compilation that is rather varied. We hear ambient and downtempo right through to more personal and abstract interpretations of techno.

All proceeds will be donated to the Ukrainian charity, Voices of Children, who are supporting children who have lost their parents in this war; the poorest and most helpless victims.
