Heliopora & Artos Eleven are two childhood friends and co-founders of Melifera Records.

In February 2022, they invited Luigi Tozzi and Feral to play with some local artists of the Lyon (France) scene. For this special occasion, Heliopora and Artos Eleven used their musical complicity to play a transition set between day and night, between chill and party... It is this set that Crescent London is sharing with you today as one of our Crescent Textures.

It is little to say that we are proud to share this latest addition in our podcast series. 

Sanjib (@sanjib-4) is one of the artists who was mentioned most quickly when we were looking for references for Exocet in 2019. His approach of a deep, organic, textured techno, drawing its influences from dub and nature, already was a big influence at that time. 

Since then, he produced a handful of EPs and two albums, "Lost Continent" and "Lost Planet", released respectively on Huinali and Annulled. We cherish his universe dedicated to travel and introspection that he declines in his his mixes and productions.

When we asked Sanjib if he wanted to associate a theme with this mix, he directly thought of ocean acidification.

Ocean acidification is the forgotten consequence of climate change. Or at least, one of the lesser publicized, compared to hurricanes, heat waves, droughts or floods. Yet it is a crucial issue : the food chain, the biodiversity and more generally the possibility of life in certain regions depend on it.

CO2 emissions are by far the primary cause of ocean acidification. Other causes involve agricultural activities and coastal pollution.

The issue of climate justice must be addressed here again. The first human populations to suffer the consequences of ocean acidification are not the ones that emit the most CO2. The levers for action are known and documented: reducing our dependence on fossil fuels and stopping massive deforestation. The most emitting countries must not only honor their promises, but also help the most affected populations to adapt.

The month of August brings many things, but those dearest are the warm, summer breezes. Flowing around Brooklyn and New York bringing with it a brief respite from the hot summer day ahead. Much like a breeze in the morning, today’s mix from Owl brushes all the senses, enveloping the listener in the sounds and textures of a wonderfully deep time and place. Monochrome presents, Eté II : Adhémar.

This summer, Monochrome is offering each month to one or several artists to discover their influences and inspirations through a forty-five minute to two hour recording. These three recordings will focus on Ambient, IDM and Deep Techno.

Artist biography :

Adhémar is a multidisciplinary artist, establishing his universe through music and plastic works. Constantly in search of the luminous quality of sounds, in a world made of shadows and lights, his music is closely linked to his plastic work.
This obsession with shadows leads him to think and create spaces, atmospheres that focus on the lightness and poetry of light. The idea of "narrative potential of music", allows to confront the psychological and philosophical journey with a particular report on what is alive and what surrounds us (whether it is the material world, immaterial, the fact that everything is in constant becoming). With a particular rigor for the transitions, whether in his own production or in his DJset, his universe is built little by little, according to the sound transformations.

Human Lessons #070 - Owl

It is high time in some countries of the northern part of the globe that the sunlight comes back to life and nature starts to bloom after this winter. With worried hearts we all observe that the seasons begin to lose their stability, but still we can say that the last winter has been quite cold in many places of the world. 
It is lovely how the very talented artist Owl took over this episode. He begins the first half of the story with very profound textural and harmonic ambient pieces which mirror the hibernation of nature during winter. It feels like waking up from a long sleep as the first beat comes in. It slowly evolves with a captivating aquatic vibe which mirrors the blooming of nature in spring.
