Fhionbarra has reignited the Bloom Loops mix series for 2025 with an intriguing exploration at 160 BPM. 

This first mix of the year blends deep dub, driving drum and bass rhythms, and pulsating techno grooves, incorporating leftfield, experimental sounds and field recordings to beguile, groove and soothe.

Continuum: a coherent whole characterized as a collection, sequence, or progression of values or elements varying by minute degrees.

We take off to continue our voyage joining the dots of The Continuum, and this was the time our mission gave in to the pull of a force that, since day one, has been beeping in our sonic radar and marked as a ‘not to miss’. We explore total outlandish territory here with a unique selector that challenges genres, labels, and preconceptions. We salute Josephine’ Soundscapes.

Josephine’ Soundscapes is the moniker of Jose Salas, an audiovisual creator, art director, and active promoter of alternative culture in Madrid. When it comes to music, he has been an active participant in shaping Madrid’s underground electronic music scene for over 20 years. Founder and collaborator of many musical and cultural projects over the years, his current ones include Campos de Marte, an expanded radio project dedicated to experimental music, and the curation of Temple, a series of listening sessions at Espacio Perpendicular.

And that would be an “official” glimpse at his resume. But the gravity magnet of Josephine’s musical choices gets out the personal in me.

And CHOICES here is the word. Because what makes Jose’s sound impossibly unique is his brave choices. Placing himself in the crossroads of experimental, ambient, avant-garde and electronics is not a chance. His landing space has enabled him to explore, what I believe, is his superpower: a keen eye for mega-bold selections. He embodies the concept of “the sound you didn’t know you needed” and does so to an extreme. I have never heard stylistic picks like his ones, but the resulting collage often conveys a similar something: anachronistic sounds that bring psychedelia of past times. A touch of absurdism. Contemporary WTF-ism. A mastery of the surreal. And, having been lucky enough to attend to a couple of his in-person rituals, his takes always blow minds, make audience connect with each other, smile in joyous disbelief, and ask “are we really listening to this, right now, and works so well?”. 

What we present today for the next chapter in The Continuum is the re-recording of his set for a dreamy event put together by Mostra and Introspective Electronics in London. A special selection focusing on women, as the event took place on the 8th of March. Get ready for a take on psychedelia like you have never heard before. And welcome to a musical world not bound by space or time, where anything and everything can fit, and where the master selector will pick the most unexpected. Welcome to Josephine’ Soundscapes.

The Continuum: Josephine' Soundscapes

Today’s Pink Moon carries a gentle magic and is a perfect moment to share something truly special. Aligned with the energy of this lunar phase and her recent EP Pink Noise on Unrush, we couldn't imagine a better time to release Banu’s stunning mix for us.

Born in south-east Turkey, Banu is a DJ, producer, and sound artist who uses music as a political tool - a vehicle to express deep emotion and challenge systems of oppression. Her work sits at the intersection of contemporary art and activism, weaving together participation, social design, ecology, and feminist and queer theory into powerful multimedia installations where sound takes center stage.

This mix is a beautiful reflection of Banu’s multifaceted practice. Blending immersive soundscapes, Downtempo, and exceptional sound design, it’s a sonic journey that speaks to both the personal and the political - featuring some of our favorite artists and sounds we hold close. The haze of Paral·lel festival has barely lifted, but we’re rewinding to another moment worth lingering on, February in Granada, at the Moonback club. There, under the warm glow of the Extramostra banner, Mostra linked up with the Klub Collective for a night that balanced local soul with an international touch. The lineup reads like a heads-only dream: Timnah, Antonio Vázquez, Refracted, and a solid core of Klub Collective residents including Fran Acosta, Kaizen, and Utopian. The kind of night that reminded us why the first slot matters more than most people admit. It’s the architectural role: shaping the night’s flow from zero.

Utopian did just that. His set unfolds like a slow exhale, dub-laced ambient that creeps, swells, and gradually transforms into chugging, low-slung techno hypnosis. It’s a patient climb: syncopated, restrained, precise. Not a single cheap move, just deep focus and floor logic, the kind that sets the table without stealing the meal. But make no mistake, this was a statement. A warm-up that didn’t just support the night, but elevated it.

Beyond simply playing music, he actively cultivates an organic relationship with the scene through various endeavors. He's notably the planner behind the electronic music festival 'PROMPT', delivering fresh audiovisual experiences, and a co-founder of the underground music community 'tread', contributing to the establishment of a free and vibrant music ecosystem. He also maintains an active presence as a member of the renowned electronic music label 'Oslated'. Currently, he operates 'atdge', a DJ bar in Seoul, directly engaging and connecting with listeners on the ground.

2009년 디제이를 시작한 그는 자신만의 독자적인 노선을 개척하며 한국 전자음악 씬의 발전을 위해 꾸준히 헌신해 왔다. 그는 단순히 음악을 플레이 하는 것을 넘어, 다양한 활동을 통해 씬과의 유기적인 관계를 형성하고 있다. 대표적으로 전자음악 페스티벌 ‘PROMPT’ 의 기획자로서 새로운 시청각적 경험을 선사하고 있으며, 언더그라운드 음악 커뮤니티 ‘tread’ 의 공동 설립자로서 자유로운 음악 생태계 조성에 기여하고 있다. 또한, 유수의 전자음악 레이블 ‘Oslated’의 멤버로서 활발한 활동을 이어가고 있다. 현재는 서울의 디제이 바 ‘atdge’ 를 직접 운영하며, 현장에서 리스너들과 직접적으로 더욱 가까이에서 소통하고 있다.

Kamran Sadeghi is a composer, record producer, interdisciplinary artist, and curator based in New York City. His work incorporates sound art, multi-channel composition, architecture, moving image, modular synthesis, and field recordings. This layered practice explores the intersection of interior and exterior worlds—physical, cultural, and psychological. Maharam is an American DJ and co-organizer of Final Passage, a Brooklyn-based event series emphasizing leftfield curation across both club and deep listening environments. Maharam's affinity for deeper sound is rooted in the melancholic landscapes of his Pacific Northwest upbringing, as well as his background as a guitarist and jazz vocalist. After moving to New York seven years ago, Brooklyn's rich DIY scene has been central to his life, acting as a constant source of inspiration and connection. In his mix for Oslated, Maharam shares a carefully crafted meditation through emotive ambient, dub techno, and textural electronics.

Born and raised in Munich, cj Rusky started to discover his passion for music in the early 90s after visiting several Afro-Cosmic events as a teenager. The wide range and style of this underground music, as well as the skilful mixing of Italian DJs such as Daniele Baldelli, Beppe Loda and DJ Yano, had a profound influence on him, and he took his first steps as a DJ in 2000 when he started playing at student parties. 

The emerging Balkan Beats boom at that time, followed by a growing interest in Electro Swing, was Rusky's ticket to enter the club scene – first locally in his adopted home of Augsburg, then throughout Germany and finally internationally, mixing these genres with other global music styles. 

As his musical development progressed, he increasingly focused on the broad variety of electronic subgenres that were rapidly evolving. This is how he discovered his passion for Organic House, Slow Techno and Slow Psy – always combined with elements from global and world music. 

When the pandemic hit, Rusky used the time to discover new music and expand his spectrum. He currently focuses on Hypnotic Techno, Minimal, Dub Techno and Indie Dance, while always continuing to follow his own motto: music has many genres, but no boundaries.
