The phone rang off the hook, the shrill tone resounding around the room. Suddenly he jolted upright, out of his daydream and back into reality; back intro the throes of his working day... He took the receiver off the hook, and closed the door to his office - work could wait. Though he'd played the game and hustled his way up to the top, he still believed that people shouldn't spend their whole lives working - working for what exactly? Now he was just counting down the days until he could take that full time vacation.

Proprietors of 'Mutations of the Hardcore Continuum', Melbourne's Branch Points are enlisting the help of six artists for their first ever VA release. Featuring artists from across the globe, the EP brings together Pugilist, Caldera, Dawn Razor, Lithe & Imitation Therapy, Hartta and Barley, all of whom offer up their own takes on functional club music. Of course, it's not that straightforward though: the producers all roam the off kilter spaces of dance music, exploring complex rhythms, staccato beats and rumbling bass frequencies.

Regardless, Andu Simion is not at all a newcomer in the minimal stage. Mostly known for its activity within the different projects, Andu has contributed with singles for various EPs of incremental minimal labels and has developed multiple collaborative projects during his career. However, every time he surprises with a playful selection of compositions that is supposed to mimic a trip through the night, body, space and time. 

As one third of the Lisière Collectif, Andu Simion learned early and often how to take a dancefloor on a hypnotic, grooving journey throughout the night. Andu comes from the outskirts of Ploiești, Romania and you can hear the industrial side of the city in his sound. It’s safe to say that, while clearly being inspired by the Romanian minimal movement, he has crafted his own particular style: a deep, if maybe just a little acid-infused journey that has landed him a very nice releases on Atipic and Atipic Lab, Priku’s labels.

He’s also half of A Dublu or Anduli projects and a well-established member of the rominimal scene with numerous releases on nice labels such as Palinoia, Polen, Particular, Cueva Records, Diffuse Reality, Insound Recordings or Cakeman.

Welcome back to the December edition of the Gated podcast!
We're super happy to welcome Feryne this month, with a delicious set of varied tunes from the electro/acid/idm/techno realms.
A self-admitted music freak, Feryne has mixed her fave electro, idm and techno tracks since 2005. She's played at the many clubs and festivals of Hungary (Kontra, Wndrlnd, Corvintető, Müszi, Kuplung, R33, Egál, S.U.N festival, Ozora ect...) and other countries, like Germany, Croatia, Slovakia, Austria, Romania, France and of course the Netherlands (Drift Festival, Het Nest Festival, ADE etc).
She is currently based in Nijmegen (NL) and is also a resident DJ at
Nijmegen’s very own Open Source Radio.

We also have some new bits to start from Gated and a class release from Featherstone too from his recent EP for the Ernest's way label.
