INTERSUM's second release of 2022 comes from the greatly talented CTAFAD. 
Over the years, CTAFAD (aka Sun Dawei) has become well travelled, as a guitarist, an ambient composer and producer, a label manager, and has done work for fashion shows and television. 
CTAFAD is an artist with a proven track record, unafraid of transformation and metamorphosis, bravely open to taking on new forms and developing constantly.

Réfléchissant is a pensive collection of swirling, vortex like minimal techno continuing to develop the style and sound set forth on CTAFAD's current body of work with Shanshui, GSXS and Indefinite Pitch.

Remixes come from the elusive Rainsoft and label manager Mechanist.

This 5-track excursion into the realms of deep & hypnotic techno was created during the lockdown with a focal point on open-air settings. His second interpretatio of ‘Moral Perception’, is an immediate immersion into aquatic ambiances, captivating broken beats, metallic chirps, and intriguing waves of elements that make for a deep and eerie take on the original.

"Mars Reform" is a visionary, dystopian techno odyssey that imagines the future of human existence beyond Earth — not as a utopia, but as a volatile reconstruction. The track opens with desolate ambient textures and distant industrial echoes, like wind sweeping across the red desert of a terraformed Mars. Slowly, a broken yet determined rhythm begins to rise — the sound of humanity rebuilding itself amidst alien soil and mechanical decay.

Pierre (Bob) Stephan fuses cinematic tension with hypnotic minimalism. The percussion clatters like machinery under strain; synths swell and shrink like artificial atmospheres struggling for balance. There’s an eerie calmness in the chaos, as if the track reflects both the violence and the beauty of starting over in an unfamiliar world. "Mars Reform" captures the essence of post-colonial futurism — both a warning and a hope, rendered through layers of texture and tightly wound structure.
