Here's the first hour of my set played on the Sunday evening at 6pm at Springkell in Scotland. I was feeling a little fragile when i stepped up to play after 2 days of indulgence but enjoyed warming things up. Already looking forward to next year! Thanks to Moy Santana for the recording and to all the Springkell crew : )

Recorded before election results were coming in, this set of meditative ambient and subtle dub techno was meant to calm the peoples' nerves while we awaited news on the future of the USA.

Eric Cloutier - Election Night Chill Vibes

Patrick Russell is a true veteran of the US underground. A genuine sonic storyteller, with consummate taste and disciplined execution. He magically transforms the diaspora of acid, IDM, and pure jack energy into a deep, fluent sonic dialog that never fails to devastate both minds and dance floor.

His evolving and hypnotic set at parallel, 2018 is still widely remembered as one of the finest ever in the history of the festival.

The experience took place virtually on November 13 - 15th 2020 worldwide from the radio platform 9128.live.

Followers of ambient music will no doubt know Ario as the man behind @astralindustries, the revered label that fuses reissued work with new releases from some of the most exciting artists in the genre. Despite the challenges thrown up by 2020, this year alone has seen AI releases from @multicastdynamics, The Chi Factory and Waveform Transmission, among others, and 2021 already promises to be even more prolific for both the label and its boss. 

Yet London-based Ario is just as much a DJ in his own right, with a sound that evades neat categorisation: drawn to the “deeply ritualistic and primal” side of drone, yet partial to the occasional dance floor set, he is reluctant to get too concrete when discussing his own music. His Patterns of Perception 77 is designed to challenge the listener – built on the belief that, contrary to what many may think, an ambient set is not necessarily designed to soothe and subdue.
