⫷ 𝔻𝕒𝕣𝕜 𝔻𝕠𝕝𝕡𝕙𝕚𝕟 ⫸ Are you aware that Orcas belong to the Dolphin Family? I don’t find it that obvious at first sight because of firstly, their size that is closer to a whale than a « regular » dolphin and secondly because of the name « Killer Whales » that is given to them. Not because they are whales but because they do eat whales sometimes, especially wild transient orcas. Orcas are at the top chain predators. Even great white sharks « fear » them.  Yet, they never attacked any human beings. They like to come close, watch us, play, and interact even sometimes but they have no interest in eating us. Why? What do they have to teach us? 

I sometimes wonder where this chemical attraction I have for Orcas comes from.
And it is now at its highest pick! I understood they are pushing me to dig deep into myself. To go see the darkest parts. And I understand those are the parts that give me my highest potential!

With my friend Julie, we did not swim with Orcas (yet) but we did swim with wild dolphins in the Red Sea of Egypt. This trip and this encounter were some of the deepest we got to experience, on various levels. We dived deep into the clear waters of the Red Sea and facing those wild dolphins was like facing ourselves in a mirror.

And what came out could only be beautiful, liberating, and joyful at the end!

At the occasion of their wedding festival, « La Farfaderie » Julie and her husband Omar, booked me to play… twice in two days! I felt super privileged!

For the first set, nighttime, I had around 2 hours to embark my audience into a special journey. I wanted it dark and crispy, deep and jumpy. So I decided to step out a little bit of my comfort zone that is downtempo and explore other genres like tech-house or melodic techno and even Italo Disco. Also because the Dj playing after me was going to play Italo Disco so I had to adapt to create a smooth transition between us too.

I was a bit tensed when I started playing but a few people came to me to tell me how great it. I was filled with so much support, before, during, and after the gig. It was incredible and those who were there have no idea how much courage it gave me and how it helped me gain in confidence! 🙏

Dauw — literally ‘condensation of atmospheric moisture in the morning or evening’ — is a subtle nuance for the presence of this Belgian bred music lover with a deeply rooted passion for jazz and soul music. Not sticking to one particular style his sound can be described as minimal house music in all its deepest forms and tempo ranges. Warm melodies often go together with groovy, heavy bass lines creating a particular deep vibe that has energy enough to get the party started, to going way passed sunrise and every moment in between. Add some strong emotional flavour to his defined sense for rhythm and he’ll spark you up on a journey that makes your heart,
mind and feet wander over and over again.

This mix was recorded live before Mosley Jr (Live) at Ghent’s (BE) newest underground club, Funke.

Over The Moon is delighted to present our sophomore release, the debut release from a bright new talent on the downtempo scene.  Encounters, from Bay Area based multi-instrumentalist and producer Tyler Hovestadt, is a project that seeks to find balance between organic musicality and electronic exploration.  On 'A Path Beyond', Encounters gently evokes a sense of calm through uplifting tones and thoughtful progression, enveloping the listener in a cocoon of heart centered magic.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Tyler Hovestadt began his musical endeavor by experimenting and improvising with synthesizers as a part of garage jam sessions with his friends. After furthering his craft in sound design and arrangement, he went on to produce his own compositions and establish Encounters. Aiming to marry the digital and analog world, Encounters fuses organic, live-recorded percussion with meticulously constructed electronic soundscapes. 

ABOUT OVER THE MOON:

Over The Moon is the sister imprint of Behind The Sky Music, a record label created by established electronic producer Bluetech which is committed to releasing high quality limited edition vinyl presses of analog and modular synth music.  Formed during the pandemic lockdown, Over The Moon is a collaboration between label partners and longtime friends Evan Bartholomew (Bluetech) and Maggie Houtz (DJ Maggie). The two work closely on co-producing the weekly Twitch audiovisual show Holotropic Happy Hour as well as the various artists Matters of the Heart compilation in summer of 2021 for Behind the Sky. Maggie’s love for - and encyclopedic knowledge of - downtempo electronica is the guiding force in curating a catalog of gorgeous and emotional electronic music.   Over The Moon was born out of an inspiration to showcase more explicitly electronic, beat-driven music that sits just outside the parameters of the Berlin school ambient and analog synth-oriented releases of Behind The Sky.

It was exquisite to serve this space with the power of intentional M U S I C (I got to play some tracks that have been waiting to play for years):  a true Medicine Temple of Human Hearts 💎

New Earth Nectar Vol. 8 💎 Medicine Temple of Human Hearts

The four ways lead to the same destination: developing unity in the human being. Three are considered ‘traditional’ because they encompass all the traditions we know — Buddhism, Christianity, Sufism, Hinduism, etc. They develop unity through focusing on the physical body, or the emotions, or the mind.

The three traditional ways begin by requiring a complete change of life. You have to join an order that specializes in one specific way, or find a teacher, always in isolation from the outside world; a Christian brotherhood in Mount Athos, a Buddhist monastery in Tibet, a Sufi Tekke in Iran. You cannot participate in them part-time or enter them gradually. A total commitment is required from the very beginning.

If we imagine humanity in the form of concentric circles, we can imagine four gates on the circumference of the inner circle through which people of the [outer] circle can penetrate. These four gates correspond to the four ways.

The fourth way has no definite forms like the ways of the fakir, the monk, and the yogi… it is never a permanent way… and there are no institutions connected with it. It appears and disappears governed by some particular laws of its own.

But we know so little at the beginning, we could easily choose a way unsuitable for us and lose valuable time. How long can we hope to spend on search alone, before even beginning real work? Perhaps in past ages, when schools were more closely integrated with society, this was possible. But for a person living in the modern age, with family and career responsibilities, this is impractical.

And the position would indeed be hopeless if the possibility of yet a fourth way did not exist…

Posaunenspiel wegen vorangegangener Krankheitsphase so lala, aber der Ansatz kommt wieder, ich versprech's! :P
Trotzdem eine schöne Reise, die ich nicht für mich und die Besuchis behalten will, deswegen jetzt nach einer Woche doch noch der Upload :)
Vor Ort war auch ne ganz gute Stimmung.
