Foremost international techno outlet Drumcode is delighted to announce the release of its next full-length album, ‘Satellite’, by enduring Italian techno talent Sam Paganini.

Though he has been active since the mid nineties, recent years have been hugely successful for Sam, with searing techno EPs coming on revered labels such as Riche Hawtin’s Plus8, Sven Vath’s Cocoon and of course, Adam Beyer’s Drumcode. In his time he has been responsible for underground hits like ‘Zoe’, ‘Polyester’ and ‘Fire In My Arms’, all of which demonstrate his dynamic understanding of sexy, dark and hypnotic techno grooves and at the same time have earned him plenty of great Beatport chart positions as well as respect from the best in the game.

Incredibly, ‘Satellite’ is Sam’s first full-length album. Informed by his DJ gigs at legendary places like Berghain in Berlin and Cielo in New York, the album starts with a dystopian bit of sonic scene setting, as if a space ship is charging up ready to take off.

From there it’s a case of getting straight down to business. ‘Another Chance’ is a spacey bit of cantering techno and ‘White’ is rooted in devastating kick drums and is riddled with serrated synth lines that build lots of great techno pressure. ‘Down’ is an undulating bit of funky techno complete with choice vocal flourishes and tracks like ‘Lotus’ are prime offerings from the deeper end of the scale.

No two tracks sound the same on Satellite: Sam is always teasing out a new bit of texture, nailing a slightly different vibe or exploring different amounts of light and dark throughout the course of this most excellent album. This is evidenced by diverse cuts like ‘Dusty’, ‘Toxic’ and ‘Rave’.

Despite ‘Satellite’ being Sam’s debut album, it showcases his seductive style in all its glory across 12 fantastic tracks that will leave you begging for more.

Correspondant’s 28th release, “Polina”, delivers another brooding, evocative EP for the label, this time from the Agents of Time polyhedron: a fusion of ideas and concepts that make up a single reality. The Italian trio of Andrea Di Ceglie, Fedele Ladisa, and Luigi Tutolo came together in the summer of 2013, and their inaugural album was released via Stem Records in January of the following year.

Barnt and Stephan Bodzin, two artists whose stand-out performances at recent Afterlife events have made them firm favourites with the crowds, are tapped for the remixes of Tale Of Us & Vaal's latest single 'Monument' (AL006). They both take on the title track, Barnt opting for a rolling, percussive direction and Bodzin more ethereal and transportive. For the digital-only third contribution, Adriatique (the Swiss duo of Adrian Schweizer and Adrian Shala) give the drums some extra punch and cloak the vocal in spacey reverb.

Slam continue their prolific activity in 2017 with their new 4 tracker, The Sanctuary EP. 

A year of relentless touring hasn’t stopped the Soma label heads from firing on all cylinders with each release, and this latest EP sees the duo turn up the heat once more.

The EP starts off with Conduction, a heady mix of crafted Techno and strong, tripped out melodic rhythms. The rigorous Rotation is up next and goes full tilt, drawing on the main sequenced tones to drive home a powerful and reactionary affair. Slam are always ones for creating great synergy within their releases and do so proficiently as the EP goes deeper with Convection. Subtle, modulating synths lead the charge and perfectly crafted percussive elements remain steadfast throughout. The duo close the EP with the title track Sanctuary. A vibrant, affair packed with pulsating tonality, as classic synthesis methods are used to immense effect.

PREMIERE: Martina Kengi - Timeless (Original Mix) [DNC LIMITED]

Acclaimed techno mavens Mind Against bring their highly-anticipated return to Tale Of Us' Afterlife imprint with 'Days Gone'.

The title track of their upcoming EP is a chiming, multi-layered arrangement raising an ethereal take on the techno genre. The label describes the production as cosmic, with spiraling synth lines and a beating drum.

'Days Gone' drops on Afterlife on January 19.

Premiere: Mind Against 'Days Gone'

As the New Year opens its doors on 2018, full of hope and promise, Proton Music uncovers another gem from the jewel-encrusted rock face of underground dance music. A beautifully polished sound now sees newcomer, Rudy, sparkle and shine with his "Time / Spirit" EP.

An artist who made an instant splash with his debut release on Subjekt Recordings, Brighton based producer, Rudy Dubé, scored an instant hit from his base on the English south coast with "Transformation". Released with remixes from fellow south coast resident and global star, Kris Davis, alongside Berlin based icon, Martin Roth, Rudy hit the ground at quite a pace in mid-2016.

Going on to release "Monday" on Chouette Music in late-2016, the "Qualia" EP for Los Angeles based imprint, Oleeva Records in May 2017 showcased Dubé's penchat for Deep House as the track lit up the scene, also appearing on James Warren's "Visceral" compilation series. With his flair for blending rhythm and melody in exciting and innovative fashion, a further remix for Nie Wieder Schlafen saw a sublime interpretation of Quatri's "Ozora" that hit the number one spot in "Proton Pack 149". A subsequent debut on Proton Music then saw Rudy taking on David Calo's techno monster, "Chronomatic" in December 2017.

Now Rudy returns to the label with a wonderful triptych that epitomises his unique and compelling sound. Opener, "Sea Change" hypnotises with its strong kick backbone and evolving arpeggio line that shimmers in delayed glory. A whispering hi-hat shuffle emerges at the mid-point while a rich sub-bass fills the low-end and rasping analogue bass stab commanding attention with its Moog-like characteristics. A beautiful organ interlude sees creates an intelligent pause in proceedings before arps and rhythm combine once more in the final movement.

The strong rhythmic qualities of its predecessor are fully to the fore in "Time" as a complex percussive cadence supplies the framework for a collage of sublime melodies and chord progressions to float effortlessly across a seven-minute voyage. Contemplative in tone, the track title is well-suited to the musical narrative held within. Capped by a trademark warm, rasping bassline. Rudy's skill and craft is in full evidence.

The final offering sees, "Spirit" take centre-stage with its elegant and free-flowing melodies and storming bass line. Fully reminiscent of the Moog-inspired work of Stephan Bodzin's "Powers of Ten", the beautifully crafted bass-lead supplies an astounding work that could have been crafted by the legend himself. The soaring strings and chord progressions add further depth and texture as a driving beat and triplet shakers create a genuine sense of dynamism.

Firmly on the underground map with his stunning brand of music, Rudy has the "Time" and "Spirt" to succeed at the very highest level.

Today the musical vision offered by Berghain resident @AnswerCodeRequest, real name Patrick Gräser, has proved far-sighted. While at first glance electronic music in 2018 seems increasingly balkanized, borders between genres have once again become fuzzier. Now, on his follow up LP ‘Gens’, Gräser looks beyond the bass euphoria of his debut album ‘Code’ (Ostgut Ton, 2014) toward darker horizons and a desolate atmosphere befitting of current global circumstances.

We've featured Wayward on these pages before, and if early indications are anything to go by, this duo is most certainly set for the top. Having enjoyed something of a crazy 2017 (playing high-profile gigs at the likes of Secret Garden Party and Bestival as they went), the boys also enjoyed early success courtesy of tracks such as ‘Transcence’, which proved a massive hit on Spotify where it's amassed over 2 million listens since its release.

Following up the latter with the 'Alexandra' EP (which was remixed by the likes of Man Power and Hammer), the lads usher in 2018 here courtesy of another fitting summary of their talents. The beatifully named ‘Good Afternoon Mr.Magpie’ EP speaks volumes about the curious, meandering nature of their work, and with five killer cuts on show it’s a release that’s positively stuffed to the brim with classy, melancholic fare.

We’re particularly feeling the release’s finale, ‘Human Spirit’. A fitting example of everything that’s great about this burgeoning duo, its a heartfelt track that isn’t afraid to let its emotions roam free. An intoxicating and hypnotic cut, it’s a classy gem of the type that’s sure to lift your spirits this weather.

Clawz SG returns to Inner Symphony with another unforgettable EP titled “Whispering”. A true craftsman, he delivers above and beyond on this wonderful four track odyssey through the world of subtle emotions and profound feelings. 

Opening this EP is “Whispering”. Soft beats sets the motion while airy sounds evoke sensations of blissful ambiance; reviving in dreamy melodies. 

“New Moon” shows a slightly different character. Deep and alluring, it has its edge. Organic cascades of synths, sensual bass line - all create a sense of a new cycle. 

Progressive rhythm sets the mood, just as coy melodies of “Weathering Storm” start evoking the deepest of feelings; creating the atmosphere of nostalgia and soulful euphoria. 

“Incandescent”, the fourth and the last track in this EP, unobtrusively seduces with a mysterious baseline, emotive chords and a hint of a gentle piano and wandering synths.

“Whispering” EP is a skilfully assembled collection of heart-warming pieces, which radiates uplifting and nostalgic energy. This is a real treat for Deep House and Melodic techno lovers.

Slam drop their 2nd release of 2018 as the duo continue to develop their unique and hard-hitting sound with the Constructivism EP. Despite the pair’s heavy touring schedule, they consistently deliver ever more impressive releases each time, exploring the realms of dance floor orientated Techno.   Opening with Mellifluous, surging synths are propelled by tough kicks and driving percussive elements yet the whole track is tied together by deep and emotive pads. Pantera begins to take things up a notch. A seemingly more stripped back approach gives way to hypnotic rhythms and effect drum workouts. Paradox lifts things further still, building gradually through effective use of subtle FX and a very in your face track structure. Title track Constructivism a colossal EMB cut, road-tested by the pair at Berghain just two weeks ago, closes out the EP. A well crafted and constantly evolving sequence burns at the heart and drives this monster home with furious energy.

LENSKE’s first release by Farrago, “Risin”, comes packing high velocity punches, including a collaboration with Amelie Lens and a remix from Kobosil. The EP’s A side is packed near 12 minutes of crisp machine driven techno with Farrago’s rattling peak-time “The Riddler” being the first to puncture. The title track, “Risin”, will only be released as the Kobosil remix, a titanium tour of auditory horrors, which also borrows from the EP’s other tracks. Lens’ signature sultry vocal samples on the B side’s “Jealousy” draw the contours of a jaw grinding banger, while “Hidden Power” rounds out the release with a blaring dance floor siren encased in exquisitely unpredictable arrangement. @EtappKyle returns to Ostgut Ton with ‘Nolove’, a project encompassing a four-track EP, short film and forthcoming web exhibition focusing on Western Ukraine. Specifically, the music and artwork home in on the cities of Kamianets-Podilskyi and Chernivtsi in Bukovina, where Etapp Kyle grew up and developed his interest in electronic music.

Although now part of Ukraine, Bukovina had previously been part of Moldova, the Habsburg Empire, the Russian Empire, Romania and the Soviet Union. Its turbulent history and position on the border of Romania and Moldova have resulted in an extremely varied tapestry of cultural influence, as featured in the video for title track “Nolove”. There, youth, fashion, music culture sit side-by-side next to religion, violence and war – and larger political struggles.

The EP gives shape to the musical developments Etapp Kyle has made in both the studio and DJ booth since the release of 2017's ‘Alpha’, his latest 12" for Ostgut Ton. In contrast, Nolove's four tracks are minimalistic, detailed electronic ventures inspired by personal reflections on Chernivtsi and Ukrainian cultural identity. Forward-facing in rhythm and melody, the EP offers meticulously-produced leftfield dancefloor impressions of the region’s past, present and future.
