On June 27, 2025, a long-dormant signal reactivates from Hamburg's hidden places: Helena Hauff and F#X return as Black Sites with R4 on Tresor Records—their first full-length album and the first release under the moniker since 2014. Like a hieroglyphic recently discovered and translated, R4 feels more like a long-awaited resumption than a comeback.

Recorded to tape with minimal editing or post-production the record is a classic example of the symbiotic relationship that can come from the interaction of human and machine. This punk ethos isn't invoked through distortion alone, but through method; in the album's breaking from the received wisdom of hardness tethered to speed as most of the tougher pieces are lower BPM and vice versa (with one notable exception in the mind-melting stomp of BLOKK).

Across ten tracks, Black Sites traverse a landscape where genre dissolves into intention. It migrates through electro's danceability, acid house's corrosion, and into the liminal realm of machine funk—a genre coined by Andrew Weatherall, which sounds like the results of technology dreaming of soul where the emphasis is on live execution, on immediacy over perfection—a sound forged in the act of creating, not polishing.

In a 2013 interview, around the time of the first Black Sites EP, Hauff was quoted as saying that she wants "things to fit together properly, but on another level, I really want them to make sense together." That principle animates R4: The album's form reveals itself in time, with each movement echoing and amplifying the others to create a synergistic whole.

From the opening crawl of C4 (a name that like the music foreshadows the explosions to come) to the end-of-the-night bliss of MOTHERJAM via the intense peaks of BLOKK, 707, and classic acid track 3D it's clear that R4 is a work made with serious intent; a refutation of a world where streaming has made the two-minute single the dominant musical form again. R4 demands immersion, not just attention. It is not a collection of tracks, but a singular, recursive experience: a mirror in which sound and listener repeatedly rediscover one another.

Akob, a talented duo of producers based between Paris and Berlin, have graced us with an opus that is resolutely sensitive and chamber, offering their vision of a nocturnal techno music that is hypnotic, atmospheric, bewitching and minimalist, with a magnificent sound design that invites us to drive along the country roads at night, alone in our vehicle, discovering the chromatic oscillations of a pre-summer sunset.

Mary Yuzovskaya unveils the ‘The More You Know’ remix EP on her vinyl-only Monday Off imprint, releasing 6th June 2025. Featuring reworks from Spain’s ORBE, 90s US Techno legend Mike Parker, Judas Records’ JUDAΣ, and Duna founder CONCEPTUAL, the release builds on an EP that won the support of artists like Daniel Avery, re:ni, Luke Slater, GiGi FM, Kr!z, and Jako Jako.

First up, Token and Mote-Evolver artist and Orbe Records boss ORBE remixes ‘Ittiologia’, maintaining the original’s hypnotism by amplifying its eerie soundscapes for a loopy, deep space trip. JUDAΣ, shrouded in mystery yet known for his self-released EPs on his eponymous label and releases on ARTS, then revisits ‘Micologia’, completely reworking its tripped-out sequences into short bursts of droning synth work.

Tresor, Semantica, and Prologue’s Mike Parker also provides a version of ‘Micologia’, with the US Techno lynchpin slowing down its rhythm while its weighted synthlines bubble up between its kicks and rides. Closing out this remix package, Italy’s CONCEPTUAL reworks ‘Ittiologia’, building tension via the original’s dark and shadowy atmospheres but switching up its low-end for an electric, late-night feel.

Mary Yuzovskaya is a storyteller. Through delicate, masterful curation and a deep knowledge of experimental, trippy Techno, she weaves together sonic journeys - with ‘The More You Know - Remixes’ making for another excellent addition to her Monday Off label.

PREMIERE: Mary Yuzovskaya - Micologia (Mike Parker Remix) [Monday Off]

Dirty Epic welcomes aboard @zanias for our 117th episode of Amplify Series.

Zanias has been haunting underground clubs around the world with her instantly recognisable voice and uniquely ethereal electronic productions since 2011, with the spawning of her first project Linea Aspera in London. She has since relocated to Berlin and released under a multitude of aliases and collaborations, including the band Keluar with Sid Lamar of Schwefelgelb, and vocals for Dax J, Ancient Methods, I Hate Models, Fractions and Infravision (Kendal and Pablo Bozzi). She also co-founded and runs the independent label Fleisch Records, which was a major driving force in the resurgence of electronic body music in the Berlin techno sphere with releases from artists such as Schwefelgelb, Forces, Kontravoid, Infravision and Kris Baha. Her live appearances at Berghain, Khidi, Wave Gotik Treffen and Cruel World Festival alongside Duran Duran and Blondie, as well as guest
appearances on stage singing with the Jesus and Mary Chain, have allowed her voice to reach far beyond the darkwave and EBM corners from which she sprung.

Under her solo moniker Zanias has released an EP and four full-length
LPs, all to underground critical acclaim. Her most recent album, 2024’s
‘Ecdysis’, was praised as “rich in atmosphere and hugely evocative”
when Louder Than War proclaimed it ‘Album of the Week’ upon its
release on Fleisch and Metropolis Records.

With her new alias and its self-titled debut EP ‘Serpentskin’, Zanias
seeks to express the side of herself that feels just as at home in the DJ
booth as on stage with a microphone. Fusing her love of wave and
hyperpop with the structures and textures of trance, she deftly carves a
new niche in dance music with her signature vocals and a taste for
euphoric and evocative melodies.

Serpentskin’s debut EP will be released on Fleisch Records on the 10th
of March, 2025. Vinyl + Digital.

About Tresor Berlin
At midnight, on March 13th 1991, a basement door opened at Leipziger Strasse 126, Berlin. Through this door, many passed, on their way to defining new terrains in electronic music. There they found a dance floor in the vaults of a closed-down department store, with a unique sound bound to dense fog, building night after night a history that was also a vision of the future.

This history has seen in Jeff Mills’ first sets on three turntables, Underground Resistance's first live appearances in Europe, grandiose Tresor Park parties, to various chapters of the Loveparade with Sven Väth in the 90s and since then countless generation-spanning parties. These moments represent the highlights of infinite personal clubbing experiences. It is the manifestation of the Berlin spirit, emerging from its considerable strife. This history is not without its complications - from temporary closure by the authorities and several raids in the early years to closure and demolition of the old location in 2005. What followed was years of wandering in exile and, finally, resurrection in the new home in Kraftwerk Berlin.

These stories, conversations and shared experiences within our walls forge a resilience that drives towards a shared ideal, the Tresor sound: community, resistance, and the world to come. This was observed in the newly re-unified German youth, who danced and celebrated together from the club’s inception, and into the present day through ongoing community work in Detroit.

To those that have danced before, and to those that will dance in the future: the light at the end of the long Tresor tunnel is a signal. A flicker amidst the fog. This is our future. This is our place.

Throughout the years, Detroit-born Berlin-based groove operator and Tresor / Globus resident Eric Cloutier has been honing and refining his palette as both a producer and a DJ. Not one to engage in dogmatic restraint, Cloutier keeps developing his vision through carefully curated selections and an equally impeccable mixing technique. Boasting the variety and precision of his releases for his own imprint Palinoia, the present mix was recorded live at The Chinese Laundry in Sydney last year. Playing the main room open-to-close, Cloutier put together this mix as an evolving story and, much like the crowd of that night which proved highly receptive to the narrative, we hope this one will resonate with you. A most exquisitely complex and deep-diving plunge into Cloutier’s shape-shifting headspace, alternating heavyweight punch and dubbed-out minimalism with swashes of textured membranes and faux-organic, modular-like intricacies, this mix is as elusively impossible to pigeonhole as it proves sophisticated in its design.
