After a string of acclaimed releases on Token and a selection of remixes, Ø [Phase] released his debut album 'Frames Of Reference' on Token last fall. It earned him outstanding reviews at Resident Advisor ("a display of real power and finesse" 4/5), in DJmag ("a calculated masterpiece" 9,5/10), at XLR8R ("sticks out as an alternate route to the heart of machine music's appeal" 8/10), Groove Magazine ("pulsating techno in which every sonic details fits") and more.

Following the first single “On The Edge / Perplexed” & the second single “Dirtro II” (including the stellar ‘New Device Remix’ by Robert Hood), we now present you the last segment of the series with 2 remixes. On the A-side Rødhåd delivers an epic 10 minute interpretation of the first single ‘Perplexed’, while Robert Hood delivers a second, more minimalistic take on “Dirtro II” for the flip.

It's Boys Noize and after his sterling 'Go Hard' EP dropped last year we are now presented with a mammoth set of remixes. Always guaranteed to get the cream of the dance music crop on editing duty, Ridha has enlisted the likes of Aden, Salva, Club Cheval, Bounce and Juyen Sebulba to chop up his well-crafted productions.

Today we premiere the Pilo remix of 'Excuse Me' and the Boys Noize Records regular has nicely raised the tone with sidewinding synths and explosive drops. There's some slick vocal cuts and beautiful builds, making this a remix that no doubt has the full seal of approval from the Noize.

The man known as Trevino and Marcus Intalex has put his unique and instantly recognisable touch over the track, creating a rolling, brooding and hypnotic remix that will fit into any peak-time set.

First teased out in his bumpin' Boiler Room set back in April, six months later we finally had the full track in our hands - and naturally couldn't resist a Debut. The title track off the "Busy Block EP", forthcoming on the burgeoning Audio Culture imprint, is a hefty slab of peak-time house. Severn Beach rides the familial chord progression through a backdrop of 90s IDM signifiers, dipping out momentarily before returning double strength. Get familiar - it'll be steamrolling you on a dancefloor soon.

Bruce's productions really struck a chord from their very first radio plays. With a debut release on Livity Sound off-shoot Dnous Ytivil, and now this downright incredible 12", he's definitely one to keep an eye on in the future.

Fingers crossed for more Hessle records over the next year, but to be honest.. we don't mind waiting when they're this good.

Talented Spanish producer Cuartero masterfully combines house and techno to deliver four of his best works to date for the mighty Hot Creations. This heavy 4 tracker has been getting heavy support from Jamie Jones & Richy Ahmed ever since they signed it.

Making a serious impact, title track ‘Dioneli’ is a rolling monster with raw, dominant percussions, while ‘Liquido’ follows suit as a heavy duty weapon. On the flip ‘Manipulated’ is a melodic masterpiece with a bouncing bassline and sultry vocals. Completing the package ‘Smooth Early’ rounds off with more sonic bassline action.

Spanish bred Cuartero began producing at the tender age of 15, launching his first release in 2009. Releases soon followed on labels such as, Desolat, VIVa MUSIC and Moon Harbor Recordings.

Dekmantel is thrilled to announce an exciting new project by the impeccable Robert Hood. Over the course of three EPs and one album, the Detroit legend presents Paradygm Shift. The first EP is scheduled for the 22th of February. Hood: ‘‘The idea behind Paradygm Shift is similar to a shift in our focus. We can become so complacent; we are so comfortable with our surroundings, I think this is the time for electronic music to find a new mindset.’’

Hood is thrilled about his new adventure on the Dekmantel label: ‘‘I’m glad to partner up with them on this project. I have a very good relationship with Dekmantel. I remember the first time I met them, how laidback these guys were. I performed in this illegal bunker, a dj-set, and the atmosphere was just amazing, awesome and open-minded. It seems like a natural progression to collaborate on this project now. We share a mutual responsibility not to let fall things just in place, but to make things happen. Dekmantel is about making things happen, and so like minds think alike.’’    

Inspiration for Paradygm Shift came from a shift in Hood’s own focus. ‘‘I have been busy with my Floorplan alias and reintroducing Monobox over the years, but at the same time I felt it necessary to reiterate Robert Hood as an electronic music artist who is bringing minimalism back in the forefront, and not to get lost in the melody. I want to get back to the simple repetitive programming that I’m known for, and to me it was returning to that, but shifting the listeners’ focus and not staying on this plane like we are used to.” 

This approach clearly manifests on Paradygm Shift Volume 1, the first EP that kicks of the series with great anticipation. Two tracks that have ‘Rob Hood’ written all over it: minimalistic beasts, bursting from energy and meticulously crafted by the hand of a master producer. ‘Form’ slowly but surely creeps upon you, a slow starter, but in the end the techno funk-finesse will roar like a Detroit car engine. ‘Lockers’ follows a slightly more melodic path, keeping the momentum by delivering body shaking, pulsating techno, deep and timeless just the way we like it.

Having broken the barrier for murky skewed house with his 2014 white label 'A Place Called Ballacid', Hungarian scene founder S Olbricht returns with a full album on Lobster Theremin that channels his distinct brand of thumping, sludgy techno, weaving through repetitive drone-laden ambient and Hague-esque escape soundtrack house.

'For Perfect Beings' is a sound-palette tour de force, picking 'n' mixing tempos and tonal balances that shift throughout each track and side of vinyl. Which strangely starts on a 12" LP slab and ends with a pseudo 'bonus' 10" two track experiment.

Openers 'Astrid' and 'Blambestid' form a pair of progressive chugging rollers; journey tracks from the interstellar void that shift and glisten and singe under the gamma rays of a neutron star, finally collapsing back in to the void.

'Fadaisco' meanwhile picks up the baton for breakneck Legowelt-ian techno and rightly adds another ten layers of intensity, building to a relentless, rapturous and revolution-inspiring euphoria.

There's a brief respite from the ongoing rebellion soundtrack, firstly in the form of 'Gesnaria', a short but stuttering drift into a shrouded lake of lucid memories. An alternative snippet of the Solaris soundtrack that perfectly blends ambiguous melodic elements with an ongoing confused emotional state.

'Rien' follows this pattern of low slung blurriness by taking a dragging mammoth low end and dredging it under looping and morphing samples that clatter and ascend to a more controlled climax that signals a transition to peace from the frantic madness that peppered the album's early tracks.

Stepping onto the conceptual physical 10" side of the album, containing the "fast" and "slow" versions of 'Ovacrwded', these two tracks bear more than a tempo difference. The fast version is birthed in the womb, with the emanating warmth of rumbling subs accompanied by heavily shelved and scuffed percussive artefacts. The slow version is a new beast entirely, latching a haunting, wandering high synth line to the throbbing, distorting mid and low range, that barely seem to separate throughout the entirety of the tracks, scrunched together in a cooperative analogue rhythm.

After his joining with Ostgut Booking in 2015, his contribution to the Ostgut Ton | Zehn compilation and two 12“es on Ben Klock’s Klockworks label, Ukraine-born, now Berlin-based producer and DJ Etapp Kyle debuts on Unterton.

As with his previous releases Etapp Kyle captures his playful, multi-layered Techno endeavours with single-word track titles: Continuum EP starts off with “Opto”, an atmospheric track with fazing bleeps, ensouled synths and subdued claps – a prime example of his great feel for musical detail. “Ahora” builds upon this vibe with more asynchronous drum patterns, well placed drips of melody, distant pulses, mesmerizing pads and hints of rattles amongst other percussion.

The EPs title track “Continuum” is distinctive through its use of industrial hammer jabs and reduced, puzzling synth pads that are counteracted by a more dominant, steady and stubborn kick drum. “Limb” contrasts unconventional pulsating, hypnotic synth tones with sharp claps and snare sounds, and rounds off this 12“ of all new, puristic and futurist Techno, catering as much to the darker corners as to the brightest spots of the dance floor.
