Breakthrough opens a new chapter for Primal Instinct. After nine releases built around our stickman tribe, this EP is the first in a new visual era where each cover is sourced from the open archive of Wikipedia and subtly reworked. Choosing these images is not aesthetic coincidence but a statement: if the label is about the human condition, then it makes sense to dig into one of the biggest, most accessible repositories of our collective memory. For breakthrough, a karateka high-kicking a punching ball becomes the perfect symbol: direct, physical, and aimed at breaking through limits—of self, of sound, of format.

Dutch techno producer Troy (@troy_techno), born and based in The Hague, has long been a steady presence in the deeper realms of contemporary techno. Known for his timeless sound on labels such as Klockworks, Non Series, and KEY Vinyl, Troy continues to explore the intersection of raw energy and refined sound design.

Function's Infrastructure New York now welcomes Troy with his first Double EP 'Echoes of Ancient Life' — a profound excavation of both his past and the evolving trajectory of his sonic identity.

Composed entirely with the OB-6, the release channels inspiration from ancient and forgotten civilizations — their echoes resonating through layers of analog warmth and hypnotic repetition. Across these 8 tracks, Troy constructs a continuum between the mystical and the mechanical: deep, tunneling synth lines, evolving textures, and precise rhythmic flow.

From the slower beginnings to the more uptempo and propulsive closing chapters, Echoes of Ancient Life maintains a firm gaze on the dancefloor while delving into the archeology of sound. Jen Cruz’s first release for Ben Sims’ Hardgroove imprint is the four-track ‘Criteria’ EP which is released on December 12th, 2025. Tarragona-born and Barcelona-raised, Cruz has made a name for herself in the city’s clubs over the past eight years while translating that rep overseas via releases on LW Recordings and Raw Quarter DGTL. Having recently played a Hardgroove showcase at Razzmatazz, Cruz first release for the long-running Hardgroove label is well-timed.

Kicking off with ‘Without Criteria’, Cruz’s ‘Criteria’ EP oozes energy and movement. From the cascading stabs of the opener to the rattling percussion and vocal clips of ‘Yes To Everything’, Cruz has a knack for the memorable without sacrificing depth or pace. Even when stripping things back in ‘Own Your Voice’ or taking a more full-on approach in ‘It’s All About Music’, this is an artist firmly in charge of her tools.
