Kobosil offers four new tracks on his debut EP release for Ostgut Ton.

Following up on his latest remix of Terence Fixmer's Aktion Mekanik Theme (Ostgut Ton, 2015) the 24-year-old from Berlin is back with four carefully crafted tracks for his first regular release on Ostgut Ton.

Titled ‘We Grow, You Decline’ the eleven new pieces dare you to readjust your perception of @Kobosil's previous releases and invite you to listen carefully – in a more quiet environment than the usual dancefloor setting. ‘We Grow, You Decline’ marks a swerve from club-contextual tracks towards a more musical, multilayered song format, but it's worth mentioning that the album is not a reinvention of Kobosil's past production efforts. There have always been distinct hints of his fondness for more abstract, non-dancefloor rhythms, discomforting sounds and mindful listening in his young discography.

Argentinian export @Flug, now calls Barcelona his home and this time around we see his second studio album that gets delivered by way of German institution @Nachtstrom-Schallplatten.

With a long line of high quality releases on the likes of Chris Liebing’s CLR, Hans Bouffmyhre’s Sleaze, Dustin Zahn’s Enemy and Slam’s Soma Records show the pedigree that Flug has achieved and why he is such an in demand producer.

In Safe Hiding encapsulates a mindset of it’s own with experimental and ambient influences amongst some tough and edgy creations. The track we chose here called “Control” marries all these aspects together and shows a cross section of the project as a whole.

Adding to previous 12“es on Ostgut Ton and his own RK label fellow Neuköllner and Berghain resident Kobosil offers four new uncompromising Techno club tools.

While all cuts on the 105 release share filthy, stone-cold, elemental rhythms – pounding, energetic and hypnotic 4/4 kick drum slaps – the devil is, like with all Kobosil productions, in the aesthetic details. “40000 L” uses gargling synth patterns and howling horns to dramatic effect; “Bei Nacht H (178)” contrasts the kick with a harsh, tinny drumbeat and menacing melody pad, creating a nightmarish vibe.
“Backmask N” on B1 offers heavily alienated vocal samples alongside rave-reminiscing synth stabs and staggered hi-hat percussion. “Derange” closes this four-tracker with grainy drone echoes and throbbing, sizzling synth pulses.

Adding to Kobosil’s full-floor-focussed sonic repertoire 105 shows him from his darkest and most vigorous side yet – this 12“ is a brute, in the most positive sense.

Radio Slave welcomes UK techno talent Roberto to Rekids to deliver the latest instalment in the ‘Special Projects’ series as he opens 2019 with his ‘Let’s Be Free’ EP.

Based in London, Roberto aka Rob Kirkaldy is one of the latest names of note to emerge from the capital’s ever-impressing electronic music scene having showcased his rich blend of deep and immersing techno via a host of esteemed imprints including ARTS, Fachwerk and his own label Fossil Archive, founded in 2015, in recent years. Following a string of performances across revered establishments including fabric, Tresor, Culture Box and Berghain, 2019 will open with a debut outing on Radio Slave’s Rekids imprint as he delivers four entrancing techno cuts in the form of his ‘Let’s Be Free’ EP, set to drop in late January as part of the label’s Special Projects series.

‘The Jester’ opens the EP as Kirkaldy fuses slick, crisp percussion amongst murky swells and ever developing, dubby chord arrangements, whilst ‘Tonic’ continues this aesthetic as transcendental melodies meet deep kicks and delicate hats to reveal a captivating journey across six and a half minutes.

On the flip, ‘The Days Are Longer Now’ utilises a skillful balance of emotive synths and refined kicks to deliver the most up front production of the package, before title cut ‘Lets Be Free’ closes proceedings as resonant melodies and paired back organic percussion patterns ebb and flow amongst pockets of intricate sound design to conclude yet another impressive release on the Berlin based imprint.
