After a remix for Dadub on Stroboscopic’s Preternity release, Rrose checks in with a full solo release through Monad XVI. This is a record half machine, half beast, at times empathetic but continuously emphatic.
Opener ‘Onceless’ is a nine-minute coalescence of the aural narrative of Apocalypse Now. Running throughout is an incessant buzzing, more helicopter and plane than the label’s favourite bees. From this mechanical source emerges an eerie tribal drumming, slowly bringing the dissonance to a chilling conclusion.
‘The Stare’ begins as optimistically as ‘Onceless’ seemed pessimistic: a beautiful bass drum induces a whirring repeat. This repeat, however, begins to suffocate, absorbing the drum in a slide towards more mechanical disorientation. Paranoid hi-hat and insistent low ends are then introduced to close.
‘Kneeling’ is an amalgam of hi-end loops, the master sampler for a 1980s ‘computer sound’ film stock. The tone is brought back from the electronic precipice by a more verdant perspective in the middle minutes, but this cannot prevent the electronic whirring from passing into final track ‘Wet Silk Will’.
‘WSW’ has a greater jut than its predecessors, breathing and striding in a human form. Yet while it pursues this more human resolve, it certainly retains the EP’s signature pursuit of determined, electronic force.

With a hectic worldwide touring schedule and the completion of their debut Flying Circus Ibiza residency @ Sankeys, studio time was scarce for the boys.  In the few weeks they had back home in Barcelona, Anthony and Luca put their heart and soul into the creation of the Excuse My Wilderness EP. A process that took over 6 months to complete. Remixes come courtesy of Carl Craig and Masomenos

The 'Turn Around' EP is one that's been in the works for some time and its accompanying remix is one of the most anticipated tracks of 2014. If you've been to see the likes of Dixon, Mano Le Tough, Solomun, Maceo Plex or Tale Of Us recently then you will have heard it, loved it, and wanted it.

The mesmerising Âme remix has been gliding its way round sound systems across the globe since the start of the year and it's no surprise as to why. The perfect end of set track, it enchants its way through eight minutes of euphoric vocals, grand synths, astounding builds and simply gorgeous drops.

We reckon its one of the best tracks of the year and you can listen to it for the first time in full.

Leeds based Joe Cowie, aka Kahwe, announced himself in style early in 2013 with his acclaimed "Driving Me Wild EP" on Anjunadeep, and the last 12 months have seen him DJing across Europe, alongside the likes of Steve Bug, Move D, Kevin Saunderson and Paul Woolford. 

The "Sit Back EP" marks his return to Anjunadeep, with another impressive three tracker, full of warm, organic grooves and dusty shuffling percussion. 

Title track "Sit Back" is a fine example of Joe's style, meshing laid back melodies and rolling dance floor grooves together into an infectious slice of retro-tinged house music.

B-side "Deeper Love" ups the tempo, winding a mesmeric vocal sample around yet more nonchalant melodies, and lazy crackling percussion, all topped off with just the right dose of acid impetus.

From sunset grooves through to late night anthem, "601" rounds things off in style and showcases Kahwe's skilful knack for variety. Built around a mournful vocal loop and a surging acid bassline, it's a compelling, almost epic piece of house music that rises to a muted crescendo full of echoing bells and skipping drums.

UK-based house label Aus Music are preparing their 100th release this July.  The label have released zeitgeist-defining EPs by acts like Midland, George Fitzgerald and Bicep before their names became ubiquitous with the contemporary scene. The feat is even more impressive considering it means they have roughly put out a record a month for a decade without ever sacrificing the quality of the music on offer. For the 100th release, Aus Music have prepared a 24 track compilation with the majority of the artists who have previously released on the label offering a contribution. Label boss Will Saul supplies two collaborations to the record, and we are premiering his piece with Bristolian producer October entitled "Dimension One". The song is a piece of 1000-legions-deep house music in which strangled acid lines gasp for air over a stripped back rhythm. We briefly caught up with the two producers to discuss the release, their collaborative process and their favourite Aus releases over the years.
