Rhythm In Space is a crossover track with a nod to the past and gives a clue as to the early influences at play. FM-Bass notes, soft pads, and chord stabs build tension until the track switches mid-way into an old-skool breakbeat, flipping back once again for the outro.

Mind Control is sure-fire dance floor ammunition. The track uses tribal percussion, a driving bass-line, crispy house beats, and an ever-present filtering stab sound to great effect. The track builds tension into the breakdown only to be stripped bare again, teasing the listener and making way for an ultra refined build up into a hands-in-the-air moment to be enjoyed whichever side of the DJ booth you are on.

As the name suggests, Southern Breeze is a track that envelops the listener in a warm, cosy sound. A bubbling Detroit-Techno style bass-line gives the track urgency and forward motion while the filtering chord stab provides the main hook, playing a hypnotic motif that suggests loved-up memories of watching the sun come up at all night summer parties.

Label head Kostas G provides a contrasting Breakbeat remix of Rhythm In Space to round off the package. The original parts have been re-assigned to provide softer breakdown sections, while a tearing sub-bass morphs and changes shape underneath militant old-skool breakbeats in the main body of the track.

For our 7th original release we welcome our good friend David Agrella, alongside Kompo on remix duties.

David’s a producer with a fast growing reputation and a label of his own, Agrellomatica. The label’s gathered support from a number of respected DJ’s such as Jane Fitz, Laurent Garnier, Ivan Smagghe, Francesco Farfa, Enzo Siragusa, Moxie, Ciel, Massimiliano Pagliara and we’re pleased to welcome him on Seven Hills.

The Kom Dansen EP is one of David’s darker EP’s, blending together thick growling basslines and atmospheric, psychedelic textures. 4 tracks made purely for the dancefloor, all driven by a phat 909 kick, this is music for late night sessions.

Deseo drives through twists and turns with a grooving bass, precise funky drum patterns, and a vocal recorded by the man himself. Kom Dansen hits you with a huge belly bassline, while taking you on a trip on the night train, deep into the wormhole, with an ever building momentum.

Sabotage Signals is similarly growling and deep, with spooked out synth sounds, and unsettling pad action, while Kompo’s version strips everything back, and switches up the bassline into a real wrist snapper.

Next up on Ostrich we have London based producer Modes with his debut release; Follow Me. Forging his own path rather than follow genres or trends, his productions take influence from Bass Music, 2-Step, DnB & Breakbeat - and it was the authenticity in his sound that first caught my attention.

The title track Follow Me is a club track full of choppy beats and bass, offset by delicate chord stabs and trippy vocal samples. Spectrum Mind takes things a little deeper. Mellow pads and synth tones dance around over broken beats creating an infectious groove. It’s a pleasure to host Mode’s music on Ostrich and we welcome you to dive in and take a listen.
