Root (own productions) | Saraw Mix Series #2

Perpendicular Music is a new series of live performances by Dial Records co-founder Peter M. Kersten aka Lawrence, premiered at the finissage of Marina Pinsky’s exhibition Infinite Play at La Loge, Brussels in April 2023. A variety of acoustic instruments and pre-recorded material on cassette tape intersects with computer-based audio manipulation. Slowly growing sound clusters emerge into a detailed yet captivating elegy. Kersten is responsible for some of Germany’s most renowned house and techno institutions. With Dial Recordings, he launched the careers of artists like Pantha Du Prince, Efdemin and John Roberts – and not much later he started the record shop and label Smallville. Both in his club-based and listening musical work, he focuses on the deep end.

'Sunday Fiction Remixes' includes four songs of Quimbie’s debut album, reworked by infamous Lawrence, Carsten Jost, Bielefeld Murder Boys, and our label resident Ubahnrider. This Remix EP reflects the broad genre variety of the original album and ranges between Dub Techno, IDM, Deep House and Electro.

Sohrab Karimi aka Ahu https://soundcloud.com/ahu_sohrab is a producer born in Tehran, Iran, living in Berlin nowadays. Ahu is one of the few artists who prefer to adopt low profile, with little to almost no information about him, beside his music.

Ahu’s signature sound is almost impossible to capture into words: introspective blue, sometimes with a Giegling feeling, other times with deep & dubby references to the minimal house scene, yet always authentic and promiscuous.

Little do we know about https://soundcloud.com/shahr-farang nor https://soundcloud.com/kolonygorky, Ahu’s record labels and homes for much of his releases. The labels reflect his vision about the electronic music, with ambient soundscapes, experimental concepts and sometimes dancefloor oriented cuts.

Somewhere in 2017 Ahu accepted our invitation to contribute to the Introspections series with a mix built with his own productions. To this date, it remanis one of the most beautiful mixes we’ve ever hosted.
