The VSVN Podcast continues its international jet set with a trip to the sunny streets of Bogotá, Colombia - introducing the wizard behind one of my very fave tunes from 2020, Nicolas Duque. 

With his playful take on UK garage, house and rave sounds, you’d be forgiven for thinking that @nicol-s-duque-1 grew up up on British shores. Nicolas has the rare ability to put his very own personal stamp on classic UK sounds to make music that sounds fresher than an ice cool sunrise. 

The past twelve months have seen Nicolas feature on compilations for Dansu Discs and Breaks N’ Pieces before releasing his debut EP on the former - Breaks ’N’ Pieces Vol. 6. Whether he’s flirting with RnB infused UKG or dropping some heads down, no nonsense Bristol-influenced breakbeat, this EP really shows his versatility and depth as a producer and is a must-listen for any crate digger. 

Featuring a whole array of sweltering house and steamy tech house, if Nicolas’ VSVN Podcast doesn’t get you excited for summer and post-lockdown festivals, I don’t know what will!*

@duowemusic, AKA brothers Max & Will, are the London-based masterminds behind Fraise Records. Featuring releases by the likes of Nathan Pinder, Frankel & Harper and of course Duowe themselves, the pair have spent the past couple of years carefully creating their own uniquely sweet Fraise sound and the label has simply become buy-on-sight for any self-respecting crate digger as a result.

When DJing, the dynamic duo whip up dancefloors and their own Fraise parties into fruity frenzy with their on-brand blend of deep house and tech house space oddities. Gian Luigi Mendozza aka Pancratio has a long and multifaceted career behind him already despite only being 28 years old, from early minimal success to diverse aliases (check his releases as NDSOMEWARE, for example) and the establishment of his OTTA Research Lab production studio in Rome. The past year has seen the launch of his label One Trip To Ayvon, featuring sought-after EPs with long-time collaborator Giammarco Orsini and, now, new solo Pancratio material which shows a different side to the producer heading into trance territory. Titled ‘Pancratio pres. OTTA3 X La Trense’, the latter ‘La Trense’ comes from ‘Trance’ as a genre as well as a meditative form, while the titles of the tracks are different steps used in Eriksonian’s hypnosis procedure.

Zoning in on the music, as you’d expect from a studio lifer, these tracks are heavyweight hardware jams based on rock solid sound fundamentals and the sense of flowing evolution that only comes from analogue experimentation. The tracks fit perfectly with the psychedelic, spaced-out feel of these Selections and will surely take plenty of late morning dancefloors on a real trip. Aesthetically he’s put together two talented visual artists Fresh Rucola and Alice Zani to make the release a whole work of art.
