About The Mix:
I recorded the mix when i was in a really energetic and happy mood, a hint of spring and finally some sun in Berlin! I wanted to include my fav current peak time tracks in this mix, with lots of percussions and tribal-y vibes. Often I need several takes for a mix, but i was happy with this one from the first take on, i liked the flow and energy. After I recorded the mix, I knew I had to send it to Daisychain – somehow I had a gut feeling this could be a fit – and am so happy that Leesh really wanted to publish it!! <3 Thank you :)

About the mix: House music properly came into my life when I was going through a pretty rough patch at the end of my teenage years and so I figured I'd put together a mixtape of tracks I would've loved to hear back then. It begins in the late 1980s with a handful of "Proto-House" tracks I could imagine hearing at the Paradise Garage (NY) & Warehouse (Chicago) later goes into the 90s House sound. If you've ever heard me play at a function, you might realise that I see House music as a great sonic canvas for expressing my feelings and so I make as much use of vocals as I can. There are so many different strains and flavours of House which is partially the reason why I seem to never get bored of it. Many of the genres that inspire me can be integrated into a House set for example Soul, Gospel, Disco, Jazz, Reggae, Latin & more. 
The heartbreak that inspired this wasn't exactly a romantic heartbreak though, but rather a heartbreak from the current situation of the world (in German there's a great word called "weltschmerz" which I would describe as translating to something along the lines of "pain of the world", a feeling that seems to have been with me since the age of 15). I hope this mix helps you sit with your sadness and remember to have hope! I have processed so much in my life with House music playing, either at home or on the dancefloor with my community and always find it interesting when folks tell me something like "oh I don't like House music". Don't knock it till you try it huh?

Neil Gavin Rumney is an artist that started putting out rave on Chill Records and ended up as a respected garage artist, but for me his sweet spot was 1995 - 2005 when he put out 9 EPs under the guise of Trotters Independent Traders. Like the Only Fools and Horses characters the name references, he takes a liberal approach to copyright throughout the whole catalogue which came out on his own label, Ruff On Wax Recordings. The latest episode is dedicated to Rumney's output: an hour of UK hard bouncy house at its zenith.

Stella Zekri (@stella-zekri-ouiddir) is based in Berlin but her sound defies the usual expectations of those who dance in the city best known for house and techno. Her sets instead are instead led by soul and emotion and reach far and wide into the worlds of hip hop, house, new beat, trance, jazz, disco and bring rich colours and exultant vibes to the scene. She often likes to play long sets and isn't afraid of twisting and turning through diverse tempos and rhythms along the way, which is something she also does at the Body Language events she founded with Camilla Rae and Caitlin Russell in 2021. They have brought something all new to the queer scene in Berlin, while her monthly Breakfast Show on Refuge Worldwide and her studio work with 80s zouk and boogie band Stella and the Longos are further creative outlets that make Stella a new school star.  

All of this is reflected in the sixty-minute selection Stella has put together for us this week: it's a celebration of her eclectic collection that is powered by outgoing pianos, emotive vocals and gleeful grooves. There are old school house jams and silky soul-laced depths, happy 90s tracks and plenty of sensuous voices that all prove Stella Zekri's ability to keep the good times flowing is second to none.
