About the mix: This set is deeply personal, an emotional and autobiographical journey that crosses moments from my childhood and adolescence, with flashbacks to the present. 
It stitches together different strands of House, Latin, Tribal, Vogue, as well as tracks made by or in collaboration with friends.
As I grew up, I began to understand my individuality and my differences, which often led to mismatches with my surroundings. Music has always been the space where I could belong, connect with something bigger and truly collective. It was (and still is) the most powerful way I found to build real and lasting friendships. It's where I found my clique.
Since I was a teenager, I've moved through many genres that still echo in my sound: Punk, Alternative, California Hardcore, New Wave, Synthpop, Britpop, Electroclash, Electropop, Garage, Hip Hop and Trip Hop. All of them have left their mark on the way I feel and think about music.
My relationship with music is also spiritual, an internal, almost instinctive need. Each phase of my life has a track, a sound, a playlist that defines it. This set represents exactly what house is to me: a warm, welcoming space where you can grow with love and spontaneity.
“The Summer is Magic” is a track that takes me directly back to my childhood, but also has a strong connection to the essence of electronic music. It's always summer somewhere in the world (and this set is an ongoing conversation with the four seasons: summer, high summer, spring and mid-season).

For 135th entry in the Honcho Podcast Series, we welcome @ketia! ketia is an up-to-no-good self-assigned cyborg, has a keen ear for new and exciting music, alongside a curious, invested approach to community building within the Lisbon and Berlin club scene. Known for their infamous intimate invite-only kit ket events in Lisbon and one of the glitches behind the label and collective, 'kaptcha'. In Berlin, where they reside, they’re deep and sweetly entangled with the modern rituals happening at Berlin’s new ambient listening bar kwia – ketia helps hold space for a different way of connecting through high fidelity sound and intimacy outside of the usual club dynamics. 

Sonically enticed by syncopated drums and twisted rhythms, driven house with groove and breaks married with rave nostalgia. ketia thrives on genre-bending beats connected through vocal-infused tracks that allow for unique storytelling.

About the mix: What is House? 
I find it's quite personal .. I think my energy and the way I'm connected to my community is really reflected in the way I connect to house.
This set explores latin rhythms, moves to bassey breakbeats, & across to prog, trance & a lil dibbley dabble into harder house. 
Upon returning to Berlin I'm surrounded by so much, my mind is admittedly a little scattered. Although this isn't an energy I particularly enjoy mixing within, I want to take this opportunity to share some of the amazing digs I've come across in the past five months - plus some originals that I'm very excited to have in the works!
House is memories? 
"Girassol" reminds me of playing by the canal in Neukolln, "I Can't Take no More" reminds me of riding through down-town Naarm, dodging trams & pedestrians, "Not Giving Up" reminds me of a sweaty time in Zur Klappe. When I reflect on the past five months, they've included me going through a hell of a grind and I think Fierce was right, "I'm a working girl". A lot of these tracks got me through that grind; accompanied by rolling percussions, faaaaat basslines, and cunty vocal chops I got through with my ass bouncing along the way.

For our first mix of 2025, we are joined by Berlin based, Creole Reunionese DJ/Producer @sxcl ,  highly subversive in their sets from their extensive music knowledge, reflecting their instrumental background and influences  all over. We have a very special mix from them, different from their usual sound that is homage to someone special - their mama.
