Drawing inspiration from bands like Arctic Monkeys, Violent Soho and Alt-J "Sweet" is a song written about a traveling as Danny Smith (vocals) explains “The song was written about trying to enjoy the simple pleasures of life while travelling, but having experiences coloured by depressing realities.”
 
Musically “Sweet” formed as a part of a very successful songwriting challenge as Jamie (drums) explains “Nick (lead guitar) wrote three songs in three days, two of which made it to the EP. “Sweet” soon became one the band’s favourites. Starting with a simple melancholy guitar riff, the song grew until we were happy with the structure. Then it was Danny’s lyrics that took the song from good to great. Starting was the imposing phrase, “Fly high when you leave”, Danny showed his ability to interpret Nick’s songwriting and add elements from left-field that leave the song with a distinctive 'Birdhouse' sound.”

We wrote this song in between shows up in Byron Bay about being with someone completely out of your league and how you sell yourself to them. I can't tell you who it’s about but I’m sure you’ve been in that situation yourself.

This songs about not knowing what your destination in the future is or how you're gonna get there but just enjoying the stroll as it goes along and taking every step with pride and joy.

This song is about getting caught up in the Monday to Friday grind and feeling like ‘paradise’ is out of reach. But when you follow your intuition and do what makes you happy, you can realise paradise is all around us. It means to us that paradise is a mindset, and we’re in it.​
