Matt Berry was always convinced that, should he be lucky enough to avoid getting a ‘normal’ job, he would be a musician. His life would follow a certain path which, whilst not obviously attractive to most, would have seen him be ‘in a number of bands that would get dropped by the record company.’. So far it hasn’t quite turned out like that at all. 

‘Witchazel’ announced Berry as a writer of some distinction, MOJO praising an album ‘coming from a place of real eccentricity and imagination’, The Guardian finding the whole thing ‘genuinely impressive’,The Times declaring Matt a ‘multi-instrumental pysch-folk genius’  and Q summing it up neatly for the newcomers as ‘the sound of the Fleet Foxes had they grown up within earshot of the M25’.

We lived in a farmhouse at the edge of the village. I listened to the cold war numbers station on my shortwave radio with my mum while my dad powered the house. I guess I received some signals from the Big Bang because I learnt to see them in the people in my life. These are rhetorical transmissions..

Alternative Rock/Punk Rock band Prisoners Of Mother England formed in 2015 in West Yorkshire by Bedderz. Opened for the likes of Toyah, Hands off Gretel, Louise Distras, Newtown Neurotics etc. Bedderz relocated to London town late 2015, 6 months later POME were back playing the London circuit.

Now after over 4 years of playing around London, mixing with the likes of  Steve Dior, The Ramonas, Glen Matlock, Will Crewdson, She Made Me do It, Healthy Junkies etc the band have a settled line up and are picking up interest on the London alternative music scene. 2019 saw the band appear at the Camden Rocks festival & Portobello Live festival. The year also saw a TV appearance and a couple of successful  'homecoming' northern gigs back in July, the year has definitely been a good one! But don’t take my word for it! -

By incorporating a wide range of voices including MCs, poets, historical speakers and singers into their music, Fold aim to amplify humanitarian perspectives and critical reflections on today’s world. Through doing so they also hope to help keep spaces open for speaking freely and truthfully. Their sound is similarly wide-ranging, from jazz-funk through Brazilian, psyche, hip-hop and downtempo.

Starting in 2012 they’ve managed to cultivate a decent reputation in the underground British music scene. Their music is played on BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, Radio X, Amazing Radio and stations across the world. Indie Shuffle are big fans and they’ve had features in The Times, The Guardian and The NME. They’ve played shows all over the UK including a live session for Lauren Laverne on BBC 6 Music.

Fold believe that the answers to a sustainable future lie in prioritising the value of life over profits in all decisions. They believe that the success of our species has not been driven by ‘survival of the fittest’ but instead by ‘survival of the most cooperative.’ Our ability to act cooperatively to our mutual benefit, facilitated by our loving natures, is the true foundation of society. These beliefs, are what they bring to every record and every performance.

Vacant Joy is the solo project of Leeds-born British singer/songwriter Roy Barrow. 

Originally formed as a band in 2018, Vacant Joy’s original four-piece line-up was more a kitchen sink drama meets indie rock affair. For “Everybody Changes”, incidentally Roy’s first solo release, he has kept the usual lyrical witticisms to which the loyal fan base has become accustomed, but this time they are now sung over a synth-pop style with more than just a passing nod to the decade of decadence, the Eighties.

Otiks are an indie rock five piece. Dark-edged music with retro undertones.
Their unusual name is taken from an old Czech folktale about a wooden baby that comes to life.
